View Full Version : Why don't people padlock their hutches? terminator 14-08-2010, 20:54 Ok i know its not going to stop people steeling pets if they realy want to break into hutch but why on earth dont most people have locks on there hutches not exactly going to cost a fortune. *Peaches* 15-08-2010, 07:50 I don't have locks on my hutches never have hels1977 15-08-2010, 08:09 Nothing a pair of bolt croppers won't sort. If people want to steal pets - they will, sadly. :( sezbetz 15-08-2010, 13:06 I dont like padlocks - makes the hutches too fiddly for me to get into ..too many doors to have to padlock which would mean a ridiculous amount of keys!- and if anyone were to want to steal an animal I am sure they wouldnt be that put off by a padlock or two. There have also been cases where whole hutches have ben taken with the animal and there is no way I am chaining them all down either. I dont want the animals homes to look like a prison!! but thats my choice :) terminator 15-08-2010, 13:19 Didnt really mean as in rescue,s ect just as in the odd pet can understand if you have lots of hutchers there again there are locks that will accept one key for all.I doubt young kids will be walking around with bolt croppers mind you never know these days.Plus you get the odd child going into hutch letting pet out then saying the pets gone missing its not in its hutch if you know what i mean.Oh well never mind mine remain locked. I think if I padlocked my hutches and came out to one that some scrote had set alight I'd really regret having padlocked it as I desperately tried to get my animals out :( I dunno - I personally wouldn't keep any animals outside anymore. I would just rather have them in the house with me, I'm nesh so don't want to be outside to spend time with them and can see I'd spend less time with them if they were outside. Besides, one of our rabbits when I was young was killed by a fox that broke into his hutch - I just wouldn't risk it anymore. That said, when I get my chickens and goats they'll be outside! |
