At the moment I seem to spend near enough all my awake hours on the net. I havent got much to do until i go back to uni.

Plus when I go to work in the evenings I work on the computers and use the net there aswell so I cant get away from it.

Well, my job involves computers, and I use them when I get home, on a good day, probably 15-16 hours, on a bad day, 24 hours.

Quiet time atm, not even going to begine listing the uptimes of my servers in London, most have about 30 days, I tend to update them all at the end of the month, unless something major appears to break/be insecure

I tend to sit at the computer and think "just acouple of hours, check mail and forums etc..." after getting in from work. Then it's gone midnight.

Usually I'm in and out all day or working from home and spend all evening on the PC and where I can use the laptop on the internet in the day. It's not often I'm away from the internet or a computer, unfortunately. I do think it has ruined my life!

I spend most of my waking hours alternating between my Xbox and my PC, they're both next to each other so I just shift my bum slightly to each.

I find I must limit myself.I think I would use it less,if it wasnt for The Forum ,but I know Im going to use it much more in the winter time. Just had force myself to go out and do some gardening,as I feel guilty, because I used to love gardening, but must admit I like my computer better. Now Ive got to force myself to hang some washing out,and come off this damn thing !

Pattricia, don't ever consider getting broadband. If you're worried about how long you spend on the computer now it's a bad idea! Getting a wireless internet hookup for my laptop was the worst thing I ever did - I can't escape!

I spend 10 hours a day at work on a pc and have a permanent connection to the web, got bb at home so that's on all day when I'm in. When I'm not in my wife has it on all day talking to friends and family at home in Germany. My wife and I once spent 8 hours talking via email as we couldn't get IM to run on her pc, this was the period when I was chatting her up via bb. The web has totally transformed my life as we married a 6 weeks ago after a Sheffield to Stuttgart long distance relationship over two years. :D

But, but, but...
the Forum keeps your brain ticking over.
There are all these issues to be discussed:
moral, political, local, personal, historical, domestic, just plain fun...what more could you ask?
And it doesn't make you ill, fat, diseased, hungover....

Far too many hours for me, I've started doing more design stuff too so both home & office PCs are spawning more monitors. And when I'm travelling on train or bus I'm usually playing chess or monopoly (or bluejacking people :hihi: ) on my iPaq too.

Anyone know a good website with instructions on how to get a life?

Yes I've nearly been dragged to a Sunday Dev Cat (or /dev/cat as it seems to re-arrange itself to in my head) meet by someone before (where are you Sian? :P ) but never quite got round to it, had been ill recently at the time & didn't feel up to it. Maybe another one...

I'm very seriously considering changing my forum name to "square eyes" because apart from Friday/Saturday or away, I'm using this flaming computer for one thing or another from about 5.30 am until 11pm most days. OccasionallY I'll get out for a walk or something.

about 10 during the week and 3-4 during the weekend, but mainly because of work... It would be 2-3 hours a day otherwise... :)

Like Kris, Wireless broadband is the great void into which all my time disappears.

I actually have to leave my room and go to the library to do any external work. It's too much of a distraction in my halls, that my flatmates and another person means I do nothing.

Me too, Kristian. The Sheffield Forum and 'Stumble' have a lot to answer for :D

In answer to Pattricia - Mrs Draggle reckons my usage = twenty four and a half hours per day :suspect:

It depends, I'm not sure how many exactly, but how's this for a guess 'too many'. Everyone I live with is the same. There's just something about computers/the internet that is addicting.

My computer consumes most of my free time, but I have a more varied schedule. Seeing as I amnnot working yet, I have a fair amount of it too. I tend to play games more than anything else, or I will talk to freinds on MSN. Sometimes I just surf for hours following link after link on webpages. I wonder how I get to some of the site

As long as I can bring my laptop, solar charger, portable sattelite internet, GPS device, and a large fridge full of the finest ale.
