Just spoke to my g/f who was driving down London Rd and said that loads of armed response units have just arrived outside the Natwest Bank and started running about brandishing large guns!!

I'd avoid London Rd if you're headed that way...

ouch - is that area bad? I have a friend who runs a shop down there who was attacked after they nicked £400 worth of stock.

She has one of those buzzers on the door now.

Glad I live this end.

No, not really...well, no worse than many other bits - there's not usually armed robberies going off!

Having said that, I wouldn't do the London Rd pub-crawl these days, can get pretty rough down there.

but aren't April Fools jokes supposed to be played before Midday?
I used to work in a sandwich shop right at the bottom of London Road, near Bed...and that got robbed while i was working there. I don't think the area is particularly bad there though, it happens all over the place doesn't it!

Didn't the Mango Tree get fire-bombed recently? (That's around that area)

Nope, not an April Fools, honest - my g/f said they were all heading for the bank, sirens off but blue lights on, and several police with guns all outside the Natwest bank on London Rd - must have been a false alarm though, coz I can't find any mention of it on the news sites at all.

Not as bad as the time a mate of mine, who was working on Division Street at the time saw a car draw up behind another car - four blokes jump out in plain clothes, but then tear patches off the back of their clothes to expose the words "police" underneath, and then they promptly pulled the occupents of the other car out at gunpoint. Probably a drugs thang I guess.

This was started 4 years ago. If there was an armed robbery going on, it's turnned into a hell of a standoff. :hihi::hihi:

Probably wasn't a robbery. Just some irate disabled person trying to gain access to the bank.

Amazes me how these old threads get rediscovered by someone who must have either used the search facility or stumbled on it via google, then replied as if it's a current event
