View Full Version : Car keys locked in car
I have a friend who owns a Peugeot 306 and the idiot has managed to lock his keys in the car.
The car has central locking and he has no spare set of keys.
Anyone on this forum got any ideas of how to solve this puzzle without having to smash a window?!
evildrneil 30-09-2005, 17:44 Is he a member of the AA? Does he know any ermmmm dodgy characters who may be able to manipulate the lock??
Ring a Peugeot dealer and ask them for any tricks- if they don't have any good ideas you can use the same call to order new window glass for when you have to smash it.
Unfortunately not a member of the AA and no dodgy characters available for help. We know someone who can pick locks, but modern car electronics unfortunately have him beaten!
evildrneil 30-09-2005, 18:02 You don't wanna pick a car door lock - the usual way through them (apparently) is to use a slimjim to manipulate the doorlock - check your PM inbox :D
DragonofAna 30-09-2005, 18:12 If you hang around for a short while some car thief will happen along and give you a hand. Is car crime the biggest crime?

fnkysknky 30-09-2005, 18:23 Smash the window or call a locksmith.
I really hope your friend gets this sorted out. Its so annoying when you have to pay out for something like that. Good luck, really feel for your friend! KEEP US INFORMED. X
steevie/d 30-09-2005, 18:59 just done a search and found this
http://www.adamsglass.co.uk/locks_locksmiths.shtml
sorry just noticed its only london area
Which area does your friend live 4bes, and possibly one of the forum members who is a member of either the AA or RAC can call them out for him. ;)
All got sorted, looked at the various options and smashing the window seemed like the most obvious one. Was painful though having to smash into your own car!
Ousetunes 01-10-2005, 10:56 I did this once in York in December 1988.
I'd parked up but got out to take some Christmas presents into my then g/f's house. Silly me had left the keys in the car with the radio still on (which was Mike Read's Round Table where they used to review new singles) and taken some of the presents.
When I returned for the rest (gosh, I was so more generous when I was skint!) I couldn't get in.
What to do? I phoned up a local Leyland garage who managed to get a mechanic out with a spare universal key for my old Mondeo. £20 in 1988: That was a good night out then!

Mondeo didn't come out in this country till 1992/3 :)
When I was little, my mum accidentally locked me and the keys in the car. I had to be "rescued" by a policeman!

Okay clever clogs, I meant Montego.
(You'll appreciate why I got confused: both piles of *****.)
Dunno if it still works, but on some of the older peugeots, if you smack the tow loop hard enough with a hammer, the doors open.

WallBuilder 02-10-2005, 00:03 Coming up on the Dronfield bypass my car stalled and cut out, luckily I was near a layby and managed to pull it off the carriageway. I got out had the bonnet open and then went to get the keys out of the ignition so I could get my ttool-kit out of the boot. My dog a very large german shepherd who had been bouncing excitedly around in the car had managed to catch the door lock and locked me out. I called him a pest and several other slightly stronger names and even kicked the door panel I was so peeved. My window was open about a quarter of an inch and so I realised that if I had a wire coat hanger i could probably slip it in and hook the knob. I knew I'd got one in the boot but the boot was closed[another kick to the door panel] I stomped away to sit on the grass verge and consider my options whilst my dog continued bouncing up and down as he wanted to come out for the walk he thought he was missing out on. Then 15 feet behind the car i saw it!!!!!!!
A metal coat hanger just lying there.
YIPPEE!!!!!!!
Journet resumed 15 minutes later.

Not on a Peugeot ;)
I'll ask my cousin tomorrow when I see him at Anfield :)
..... And before you start...... he works in automotive ;)
He says 'get the haynes manual out and jemmy it with a coat hanger like any other car'
Then he added 'or smash the window' :hihi:
just use a screw driver pritty simple, happend to my mum :D
Thread resurrection....
I have a friend who has also locked their key in the boot (they were filling the boot prior to moving, and they think the keys are now locked in the boot).
Tried a welding rod down (better than a coat hanger) the windows, but to no avail.
Anyone any ideas as to how to proceed?
Also tried the police (who used to be able to help - but now can't).
No breakdown membership either.
:help:
The car in question is a 1999 Honda Accord.
Call a friend who has AA membership and use thiers.
option 2 depends on where u are, offer a local twoc'er a fiver to get into your car. happened to me once in barnsley, 14 year old got into my car within 1 min.
alchresearch 08-07-2009, 12:31 Buy a Slim-Jim from Ebay?

Did that once before when I lost mine. They all seem to have disappeared from where the car is.
Buy a Slim-Jim from Ebay?
They need access today (they're moving tomorrow, and the car in question is full of stuff ready for the move - along with the keys in the boot):(.
