I advertised for a house exchange recently. On here and in the council offices. I thought because I was offering a nice 3 bedroomed house in a nice area (Beighton) I would be able to take my pick of the offers.

So far, nothing! I ve had two phone calls which both came to nothing. One changed his mind after speaking to his wife, another wanted to make major alterations to the house. Only the latter enquiry resulted in a visit.

The house is nicely decorated, its on a mainly owner occupied street, its housing association, not council. Can anyone shed any light on whats going wrong please?

This would be helpful, as my next move is to post adverts in shops.

Hi Alyson, Ive been trying to move to Sheffield for almost 3 years now.

Ive advertised my property for a council house exchange through various council house exchange sites, the HOMES scheme and I also registered with The Sheffield Property Shop.

So far Ive had no luck at all, Ive had a few interested people enquire about an exchange but they have either had properties in not very nice areas, had houses that were in a terrible state or simply wasted my time.

As for the property shop well the less said about that the better as the system is a farce and I doubt I will ever get a property through them.

It is frustrating as hell and you often loose the will to live, but I keep at it cos I guess I m a glutton for punishment.

I hope you find somewhere soon and I hope to god I do too.

Best of luck to you.

Jo

I havent even bothered with the property shop. I know I wont get any joy registering with them and doing the bidding.

I have applied to some housing associations and hope they will come up with something also.
