Heeheehee guess what....
After the totally **** bus service in Sheffield, I now have a free (yes, free) bus service from outside my flat to the Union, campus centre, shops, Sainsbury's, doctor's, chemists......
Ha!
Oh and the train costs 95p return to the Bullring.
Gloat.
On a more serious note - it has made me wonder why Sheffield services are SO bad - I mean Birmingham's a lot bigger but seems to have itself in order, and it's privatised....?
It may be better for within central Brum, but unless it has improved amazingly recently the further out you get the worse it is. OAPs don't get much help and disability services aren't good either.

I'm in Edgbaston and that's a leafy Fulwoodesque suburb!
Believe me, in Brum terms you're still pretty central.
They have tvs on their buses down there don't they? Or they did...

I know someone that lives in Edgbaston - it's very nice area - your SW-ish of Birmingham.
:)
Are you sure they're TVs? - they may well be receivers for CCTV footage - London has them on the seats before the back doors, and people can see the movements of the passenger

I've not actually been on one, but my friend who lives in Wolverhampton tells me that's what they are, for when it's rush hour... I've seen a bus with a tv in it, but couldn't tell what was on it!

The bus service in Brum is pretty good no matter how far out you get. Its one of the few things that Birmingham has actually done right.
The train service is pretty good aswell providing you live on or near the line.
