Help wanted please.
I was sent a very important document by recorded delivery. I wasn't in and it has been returned and 'lost'. I have the Recorded Delivery number and was wondering how/if i can trace it. I'm guessing that it shouldn't be able to be lost. I've been on the Post Office Website and had no joy.
Any ideas??

Get in touch with Royal Mail to find out whats happened to it.
If they can't trace it.. I think that you are entitled up to £25 compensation.
I had a similiar problem with a parcel I was expecting. I knew it had been sent because I had seen proof but I had not received it. I was told that it had been delivered and signed for at my address, which I obviously knew was not the case. Royal Mail proved to be very difficult in negotiating with. After over a week of useless correspondance via phone calls/emails the parcel suddenly turned up out of the blue. It had been delivered to the wrong address and signed for. I came to the conclusion that I was lucky that it was delivered to a corporate establishment or I might never have received it thanks to Royal Mail. Good Luck.

Either call Royal Mail enquiries on 08457 740 740 or go down to the building on Pond Street.

The document should have been returned to your local delivery office,a card should have been pushed through your letterbox.
On the card should be a number to call to arange re-delivery,if the postman had not yet returned to the delivery office, then the parcel would not be there.
At this point it would be too early to have updated the pod system,so there will be no record of it on track and trace.
Parcelforce use a system for pod that is in real time,so as the delivery is attempted the system is updated there and then.
This enables you to check the status of the delivery within minutes of the attempt,(even get a copy of signature)
I cant understand why postmen dont have a system like this, afterall it is the same company.
got to www.royalmail.com and select the trak and trace option
Thanks for all the advice Guys and Gals.
The Post Bod did indeed leave me a card, but it had been on my Door Mat for 2 weeks. The card stated that the Collection Office on Ecclesall Road only hold on to Recorded Delivery's for a week. The document in question is my Birth Certificate. My name was changed when i was a baby to my Mothers Maiden name, the paper from the Courts is attached to my B.C and is the original. I opened a Halifax Internet Bank Account, they wanted certain documents to prove who i was.
I am really worried that i may not be able to get another of these Court Paper's and thus have real I.D trouble RE: Mortgage applications etc. I have wrote to Halifax stipulating all this, after a telephone call to them told me that all rturned mail goes back to offices they have in Leeds. In the meantime i'll try the Web Address suggested by Tango2.
I'll keep you updated!!
Cheers

We carry enough weight around with us anyway - I certainly don't need anything else to lug about. Parcelforce use vans that's why they have them.
Track and Trace probably won't be much use to you either. Recorded items aren't guaranteed delivery and aren't confirmed like Special Delivery's are - basically means it can be a few days out on where stuff is :)
Hey have a word with Uniform, they might be able to rig you up with some sort of rucksack and battery pack,,,,lol
I undertsand you have to carry a lot,and its not getting any easier, however the new Symbol device is just a pocket PC and is very light,(cant play games on it though) and it fits into your pocket.
The battery lasts all day and has excellent coverage, sadly it would just be another way of spying on you (I didnt say that).
I think you were being polite refering to P/force vehicles as vans, skips is more like it (didnt say that either).
Keep on trukin dude

If the PO siad it had been signed for surely you can get a copy of that signature and then prove it wasn't you, or anyone at your address.
