On Saturday August 7th, WagonWheel Presents... brings another fine evening of live music to The Grapes featuring 4 great acoustic acts. Joining us this time out will be Neil McLarty, Frank, Dead Flowers and Dan Ogus. Doors open at 8pm and entry is £3.

***NEIL McLARTY (of Roseville Grand)***

The Roseville Grand adventure began in early 2008 when singer/songwriter Neil McLarty took to putting a full time band together. After a few early changes the band began building a sold live reputation that saw them support the likes of Rod Picott & Amanda Shires and Danny and The Champions of The World.

The band have recently finished work on their self titled debut album which is due for release before the end of the year, and are featured on the Clubhouse Records compilation 'Divided By A Common Language' featuring the best in UK Americana. Tonight will see Neil perform a solo/acoustic set. Heavily influenced by all things Americana, Neil's song writing has been described by Shut Eye Records as "somewhere between Ryan Adams and Van Morrison."

***FRANK***

Formally drummer with the band Theech, Frank has taken to performing songs in the classic singer/songwriter tradition of the likes of Bob Dylan. Drawing a more modern influence from the likes of Willy Mason, which clearly shines through in his work, he comes to The Grapes to with guitar and harmonica in tow having previously proved popular at a couple of our Acoustic Nights.

***DEAD FLOWERS***

Dead Flowers are the newest country/roots duo to come from Sheffield - known throughout the world as a hotbed of country music. Put together by two old pals - Trevor (Guitar/bottleneck/instruments) and Duncan (Guitar/vox) - after Trevor finally talked Duncan into going back 'behind the mic' after a 10 or so year hiatus. Trevor has played in a huge number of bands throughout the years, covering all genres from punk through indie via experimental and bluegrass. A couple of notable names from his past include Pig 64 and Blind Mole Rat among many many others. Duncan has played in a couple of bands throughout the years, covering genres that mostly encompassed metal and punk. There are no really notable names but we'll mention The Eternal and Numb anyway. Drawn together by a love of almost every style of music, Duncan and Trevor regularly play acoustic sessions in local pubs (Fagans especially!) playing a wide variety of music and styles. Dead Flowers brings some of this versatility together under the vague banner of country to bring you some covers, some tunes, some originals. They were recently featured in session on UK Sounds radio.

***DAN OGUS***

Dan Ogus began playing guitar in his early teens, as well as bass and drums. In 1997 he recorded the "Too Late for Liquid" EP, playing all the instruments himself. Recently he opened for Barry "The Fish" Melton at The Boardwalk and has previously played with the likes of Eliza Carthy, Nick Harper, Ezio, and Jackie Leven. Recently M.C. at the Railway Folk Club in Portsmouth and at the Southsea Folk Roots & Blues Festival where he's also performed. A lover of all music, he describes himself as a rock musician who's into folk, blues and jazz (and some blatant pop!) and counts the likes of Fairport Convention, Yes, and The Beach Boys as influences.
