What do you think of the news from the CBI that if we have a bad winter there could be power cuts because we are running out of North sea gas. It will be 2 years before we have the pipe work in place to import gas.

Everybody needs to get themselves a very handy heating device- a menopause. My heating only goes on for visitors, who usually sit in the living room in their coats. Saves so much money in winter- unfortunately I spend all that I save in winter during the summer powering fans.

Just another lame excuse for the 'fat' cats to put up their prices

Domestic supplies will not be affected.

If you run a business you can get an "interruptible" supply for a lower price than normal electricity supply, which means at times of extreme demand, you may be effectively cut off.

er 15% of LNG comes from norway already.....by pipeline.

Nice to see the CBI is on the ball, as usual.

Blame the poster, not the CBI!

The CBI have highlighted the lack of storage capacity for reserve storage. Nothing said about importation pipelines.

We have storage capacity for aproximately 11 days industrial supply. This compares with an average of 55 days capacity in other European countries.

Many of the UK's current generation of electricity generators are gas-fired, and their output would be curtailed by any shortfall in gas supplies. Because domestic electricity users are always given priority over commercial customers, there is no realistic chance of even the worst winter affecting households.

Not sure we would notice any extra powercuts here in Killamarsh. We are always losing power, usually for three or four hours. No idea why although one cut was blamed on kids lobbing stuff at power lines. Seems to me I spend half of my time hunting down torches and calming down the other half and the remaining time reprogramming videos and resetting clocks.
