According to the latest survey women are twice as superstitious as men. It says that women are more susceptable to trusting in luck because they have lower self esteem than men. I disagree with this because Im not superstitious at all. I would rather walk under a ladder just to prove my point.
A lot of the women I know are very superstitious I am to a certain degree but no where near there level soluting magpies etc....

Do you think there are many differences between women & men? What do you think women should be like? What do u think men should be like?

There is a very good reason that horoscopes, agony aunts, stories of coincidence and the like are largely confined to women's magazines: women are more likely to take an interest.
From personal experience, I know very few men who take even a passing interest in astrology, but most of the women I know have at least one superstitious belief, and a lot won't get out of bed unless the 'stars' say it's a good idea (may be a slight exaggeration ;)).
So, I would say that women are indeed more superstitious than men. I have no idea why, though :)

I wonder if it's something to do with the way superstitions are passed on? Perhaps we learn about some superstitions through chatting and passing the time of day with our mates which women are possibly more likely to do than men...in my experience bloke conversation sticks to certain topics where as women go round the houses!
Maybe you should have made this a Poll.
I am not superstitious but there is one thing I will not do and that is let my kids or me go out on an argument.
I always make sure we have hugged or just let eachother know we may still be angry but we do love eachother. I know from experience you could regret not doing this incase something bad happenes.

That's not really a superstition - going out in a bad mood will probably affect your ability to do whatever it was you went out to do. Going out after cheering up is much better.
Oh Dear - I go out in a bad mood every month! In fact I wake up in a Bad Mood. No wonder I'm not a success.

Maybe it's just older women who are superstitious, I know I am, but then I had good teachers. My mother had some strange ones- don't cross knives- don't open an umbrella in the house etc. But my mum-in law was the Queen of superstitions- don't mix white and red flower(a death) if you went out and then came back because you'd forgotten something you had to sit down for a few minutes- and oh so many more I forgot.

That's interesting. I'm on a course called Language and Gender and we were looking at people's ideas of the 'traditional' or maybe ideological male and female. So I will bear your comments in mind :)
