View Full Version : What do you think of Channel Four?
Is anyone else impressed with Channel Four as much as I am lately?
At the moment my fav programmes are all from 4, including:
Its me or the Dog
Wife Swap
Risking it All
Supernanny
Soometimes I wonder why I bother paying for Sky.
What do you think?
Loving Lost
Loved Desperate Housewives, Nip/Tuck and The O.C. (looking to the new ones)
Really miss (seeing new episodes of) Sex and the City, Friends, Northern Exposure, My So Called Life, Party of Five... and prob loads more that I've forgotten about.
Ch4 rules!
spyro2000 27-09-2005, 14:49 Channel 4 is all good at the moment, my fave day is Fridays.
Balls of Steel, Max n Paddy, and that cartoon that comes on after, I cant remember the name.
slimsid2000 27-09-2005, 15:21 I am currently watching the 'SS' documentry on Saturday nights. Apart from that I can't think of much else at the moment. There have been a few good programmes on over the years (especially documentries) but also a lot of rubbish (Big Brother to name but one).
Yes, also some funny comedy - Peter Kay, Father Ted etc.
Tubthump 27-09-2005, 15:21 I'm counting E4 here: Six Feet Under, and let's not forget The Sopranos when it's on. My only complaint with Ch4 is their scheduling can often be a little erratic, particularly with aformentioned programmes.
Sci fi, stargate sg1.. time team..

I'm loving these too, except Risking it All, which I've not seen yet. What is it?
SpiderPete 27-09-2005, 16:45 It has stargate, enterprise, the simpsons, and some good house programes where they go buy somert etc etc.
Its my 2nd most watched channel behind BBC2
thetorch 27-09-2005, 23:17 channel 4 is easily the best entertainment channel that is truely diverse, offers loads of choices but then destroys its programming with Big Brother (which I like but no idea why). Loads better than the BBC or ITV.
bassplayer 28-09-2005, 10:13 Great entertaining television that keeps you coming back 4 more.
I remember the launch of C4 and have been an avid viewer ever since then. It has done wonders for the ethnically diverse section of viewers (damn I hate that ethnic word) and has helped to break down myths and taboos of different cultures, as well as introducing them to the square box.
Long may it continue.
I only watch the "normal" channels when CSI or Horizon (or a couple of other programs) are on, otherwise I don't bother as every other program seems to be a "top 100 something-or-other" type program, a "reality" program, or a soap, not my cup of tea.
Channel 4 has/had some really good shows.
Scrubs
Shameless
Lost
The Simpsons
Father Ted
Without a Trace
The Sopranos
Six Feet Under
My So Called
Ally McBeal
Cricket
Home from Home
King of the Hill
NYPD Blue
Phoenix Nights
South Park
Many many more
Phanerothyme 28-09-2005, 11:03 I used to watch CH4 news as it was about the best evening news program.
That all ended however, when it was "sexed up", started running puff pieces for Big Brother and trailing other CH4 stuff.
Shame really, but I tend to prefer my news without pictures now, and have given up on ITN CH4 news.
Pity really, as for a few years Jon Snow was anchoring a good, middleweight news programme.

I think balls of steel is great, just a shame it last one this friday.
also love
lost - simpsons- the osbournes (new this fri)- and that school of rock looks ok too that starts this friday.
I dont really watch that much (normal) tv.... other than footie or movies... but thats all on sky...
I like to watch BBC: it's grim up north.
but thats about it...
cant say im a fan of channel 4... never really had owt on that ive been bothered about...
alchresearch 29-09-2005, 12:23 I think Channel 4 has really gone downhill.
Yes, it is making unique and entertaining shows, but i've noticed they waste a good few minutes re-capping on whats already happened before the adverts.
The dog show on Wednesday is one of the worst offenders - the first show had the same clip of a dog licking it's owners mouth shown no less than four times.
"Location, Location, Location", "How Clean is Your House" and "Scrapheap Challege" also do it.
muddycoffee 29-09-2005, 12:36 Thanks to channel for fout the brilliant cricket coverage over the ashes. Now they have lost it I am not going to pay for a subscription channel.
The last thing I watched on TV at my house was Channel4 with the cricket winning celebrations right after the game. I found out last week that the TV has blown up, so in to the bin with it and bye bye to television.
I will consider getting another one in about 9 years if the cricket is on again..
sugarnspice 29-09-2005, 12:39 Definitely my fave channel by far.
It wins for me just for having Without A Trace with those delicious FBI boys.
Channel Four used to be quite good, Trigger Happy TV etc. Dunno what its like now, the last time I watched TV was, erm probably Live8. TV bored the frik outta me.
Joel
C4 had Wakey Wakey Campers till the other week.. That owned!
Up to a couple of years ago they had Brookside as well, that was cool..
