I've added my views to the spider infestation thread running at the moment.

I have a major phobia of spiders, but strangely I'm not bothered about any other creepy crawlies.

So lets find out which of the above list are the most commonly feared bugs...

I hate spiders but am not scared of them.

I've been stung by wasps/bbes several times and my gran almost dies after disturbing a hornet's nest.

I hate wasps.

I'm scared of all them to be honest. Though would only be reduced to tears (yes really) by all of them except slugs, snails and flies. Lol.

I am but a wimp.

I used to live with student nurses/nurses who were terrified of spiders. I once remember them grabbing to American lads from the street to remove it from the house :D

I generally dislike (with a passion) anything that has more than 4 legs... there's just no need for it!! slugs, snails, snakes etc don't bother me (eels are a bit odd but i don't come across them very often) its just things with legs... urgh... horrible!!!!
Spiders are the worst though, they have me shreiking and running/flying across the room to get as far away as poss... even thos on tv etc freak me out!!!

Spiders win easily [my boyfriend mocks me but IMO nothing needs that many legs and they just look evil!!]

But moths and daddylonglegs make me really uncomfortable and i have massive flapping attacks when they divebomb me.

Most creepy crawly things scare me!

I treat wasps with the greatest respect. By that, I don't mean that I open windows for them, allowing them access to jam etc, or that I endeavour to be courteous and respectful in my dealings with them. I mean that I kill them on sight. Wasps are potentially very dangerous. A single sting can cause a potentially fatal 'shock' to certain allergic types of people, and asthmatics, sufferers from allergic rhinitus etc seem to be more at risk. I accept that wasps are part of the natural food chain, but my fear of being stung overrides any logic, and if I see one indoors I will kill it without mercy.

Perhaps this anti-waspism comes from listening to tales told by my late, paternal grandfather. He told me of a farmhand stung to death in rural Cambridgeshire after accidentally disturbing a wasps' nest. I have only been stung on one occasion, and that was by three of the striped fiends at once. It felt like someone was sticking a red-hot needle through my calf. An attack by a swarm of these aggressive beasties does not bear thinking about. Kill every man jack of the blighters, say I!

Spiders dont bother me one bit has i use to keep them as pets (tarantulas not house spiders).
Nothing bothers me but got to say them ear wigs are a bit freeky.I dint even know what one looked like till seen a couple in my house and got told what it was.
What i dont understand is people who love butterflys but hate the sight of moths.I know a few people that wont go into a room if one inside.

I've voted wasps, but they're not creepy crawlies; They are highly developed beasts from beyond. They have infiltrated this world and are playing a long game as they draw their plans against us.

Keep your powder dry.

Moths are the most disgusting creatures known to man. It's the way they flap about in a chaotic frenzy that really freaks me out on some deep subconscious level. That, and the fact that they seem to be made out of dirt. Ugh.

Even though I don't like wasps I realise they do serve a usefull purpose in eating caterpillars etc. off my plants, so I tollerate them, flies and daddy long-legs however serve no usefull purpose except as fish or venus flay trap food.

Think this poll should have been a mutliple choice as quite a few of the above bother me...

Spiders - serious phobia! ewwww
Wasps
Daddy long legs :gag:
Big Moths
Flies are just dirty!

I've always thought of Daddy Long Legs as being a bit of a figure of fun in the insect world. It's as if The Maker was having a bit of a laugh when he created them - they don't seem to work properly, shifting around uncomfortably here and there in a bit of a comedy fashion.

I think I've got some strange views on insects. :(

They are the most ungracefull insects, they seem to just flap about in random until they get where they want to be.

They are supposed to have the worlds dealiest venom though.

Edit : thats the daddy long legs spiders, not the pathetic flying things.

:hihi:

They are worrying when you get a big one in the living room at night that repeatedly flings itself at your light, shedding wing cells with each hit, then disappears behind something dark and just lurks...

nick2, the wasps have taken you in friend. Don't be fooled.

FLEAS!!! If you'd ever seen a really bad infestation- it turns your stomach. We once had a kitten (found in a bag with a brick tied to it) who had bad enough fleas that I found it really hard not to vomit. We had to bath her when we got her, she was so dirty, and the fleas just ran up her body as she went in the water and ended up running into her eyes and ears. Gross!

Knowing that a bad flea infestation will kill a small kitten, we got the only mild powder that we could use on a kitten so small, and after dusting her they tried to escape, but we had her on a large plastic sheet to contain the debris. We stopped counting at 100 of the little blighters. Just to make sure that they all died rather than living in the carpets, we tipped them into a metal bowl and incinerated them all with a blow torch (having removed the kitten to a safe place).

It was weeks before I could stop scratching.

I hate all of them, but I have a phobia of wasps. I totally freak out when I see one, screaming and flapping about all over the place - they panic me so much!

I'm scared of all insects and creepy-crawlies really. Slugs and snails are about the only things that don't bother me so much, although they're still rather gross.

My life, especially Summer, would be much happier if bugs didn't exist!!

It has to be slugs. They are bloomin disgusting. Make me want to puke but they would probably try to eat the stuff.

And what sort of internal organs are we talking about here? Inside a slug is just a mass of snot.

Eeewwwww!

Spiders definitely. :help: They give me the complete heebie jeebies and make my skin crawl.

I'm more bothered by crawly things (like spiders and wood lice) than flying things (like daddy long legs and wasps).

 I'm with you all the way here dragon! I HATE SLUGS - snails aint so bad coz they've got lids on. I wouldnt deleberately hurt them, but I'd seriously go out of my way to avoid them! I once accidently stood on one when I was very young, releasing this mass of yukky orange stuff - looked like tinned mandarin oranges, all squashed. I've never been able to eat mandarin oranges since!! :gag:
