:gag: was in Casbah last night, and at about midnight-ish, someone decided to let off what was thought to be CS gas. Why would someone do this in a crowded place where a majority of it is downstairs. when we got outside, someone was face down on the road, and handcuffed. i presume this was the person responsible.

Yeah, Ive had that in vodka rev a few weeks ago. Although I think it was only pepper spray that time. I started sneezing, several times in a row, then realised loadsa other people were to. I had to go outside to get fresh air cos I couldnt breathe properly and found there were other people out side practicly choking! What a weird thing to do on a night out, personally I dont see the fun in spoiling other peoples night.

Ruin? To me, summat like that only adds to the list of events for that evening, thus justifying the evening further. .

Nowt finer than being able to say "went out, had a blinding evening and to top it all off, some teewat thought it'd be clever to. . . . which resulted in the aforementioned teewat being pinned to the floor by several heafty bouncers.

Quality.

Ah, so it was you then was it munky? But yeah - supose I see what your saying. Still think its an odd thing to do. Guess its the grown up version of kids dropping stink bombs in busy shops.

even though my eyes were stinging, and i was coughing a lot, still got to talk to some nice ladies. so, i guess it wasn't a wasted night.

I can't belive you guy's accept this as part of a night out!
What if someone was to have a serious athsma attack just because some idiot decides it's a clever prank?

michael_v1
25-09-2005, 10:52
i'm not accepting it as part of a night out. i was there, and it wasn't pleasent to be in the middle of it. sorry if that was the impression given. that's not what i wanted to do.

40summat - what can you do about it other than accept it? Theres always gonna be some tossers around, gotta accect that and carry on regardless. Like monky said, if you can take a bad thing and make it into part of a good night your doin well.

Fair point about not letting it spoil your night and i suppose getting on with it denies the moron some pleasure in what they've done.
I just think it's strange that it seems to be accepted as a part of a night out.
I guess i'm way out of touch and showing my age. :)
Stay safe peeps it's a jungle out there.

40sommat-- from what i saw of the person laying on the floor handcuffed, with 3 police on his back, i don' think he was enjoying his actions. hope they've charged him for it. in the current climate, it could have turned into a very terrifying experience. it could have been seen as a terrorist attack. i only saw 1 person receiving treatment in an ambulance, but like you said, it could have been a lot worse.

peace.

I'm pleased they got the nutter, i can remember reading something similar causing a panic and a stampede for the doors, resulting in injuries.
I can't remember if it was in britain though.
do you know if these sprays are bought over here or are they brought back from holiday destinations ? (like the old flick knives from years ago)

from what i can gather, anything is available over the internet. anything is available. it's like in Iraq a month or so ago, when someone shouted suicide bomber, and everyone stampeded across a bridge, and many were crushed, and many fell into the river and drowned.

Are you sure that this fella wasn't giving the police problems in the club, and they've had to gas HIM?

michael_v1
25-09-2005, 13:21
boroughgal - i don't think the amount of what ever it was in the club would have expanded as much as it did if it was one of the police issue ones. besides, the police woman i was talking to outside said that he had done it.

and what is un-humphed

BoroughGal

A little CS gas goes a long way, from what I can gather. But if the police woman said it was him, then fair enough!

I was feeling "humph" - mardy and down in't dumps last week. Now I'm un-humphed again.....!

I was in there too .
Apparently the cs gas was downstairs and at the same time a fight broke out upstairs.
Doormen did nowt on both counts.:suspect:
Everything happened very quick though
Police arrested man in fight don`t think it was same one who let gas off ,but who knows.
spoilt night a bit but had nice pizza instead :D

michael_v1
25-09-2005, 13:42
jay jay - we had a lovely pizza as well. went to pepe's. did you get a lot of the gas. it hit us in the downstairs bar, and got stronger the further upstairs we went. and you're right. didn't see any help from the bouncers. wonder if the fight was a distraction.

We were upstairs half way between bar and door.Made my mascara run but not really that much.Awful stuff though!
Pollo from pepes cheered me up though:D

Christ. I've been to the Casbah maybe only half a dozen times, always liked it there, never seen any trouble. Thank christ i never go on a Saturday...... seems to me from various threads that that's the night the *lads* take over...

michael_v1
25-09-2005, 14:06
jayjay - we were in pepe's for about an hour. we were at the back wall. was ok in there. never seen any trouble in casbah before. usually good. saw a bouncer bleeding from the mouth. he wasn't looking very happy anyway.

I paid my £3 to get in. Merrily sang along to Blondie & Jam.
Then saw a quick brawl near the DJ & a man on the floor. Next was the horrid burning throat & stinging eyeballs. I legged it to other side of room. The music went off and we were told to leave the building (without a refund).
Lucky for me Jayjay was in the loo so I made excuse of waiting for her and was able to finish my drink.
My better half was out side waiting for me and suggested the Ice Bar which didn’t go down too well. We should have gone to Pepe’s with Jayjay but instead got a taxi home and shared a cold sausage roll.

I didn't say a night out isn't complete without some sort of madness or violence. . I was mearly saying . .

"if it owt goes off, it goes off. S'not gonna stop me having a blast!!"

I was in Casbah last night and saw everything. The fight near the DJ box was mental, one guy looked a right mess and it was one of the bouncers who used pepper spray on the brawlers......Instead of leaving we went downstairs (which was fun when one of your mates is in a wheelchair and there is no lift!) and carried on boozing.

Pepper spray is illegal in this country, and CS can only be used by the police. However bouncers sometimes apparently have 'bouncer spray' which contains a substance which is not considered noxious in a court of law, which both pepper and CS sprays are.

hi twiglet,

what ever it was that was used, it wasn't very pleasent at all. i'm sure it will all be in the Star tomorrow night, so we'll find out. surely, if the bouncer did use the spray, then the way it affected everyone in there, it should be banned as well.

I was right at the front of the queue to get in when all hell let loose - bouncers going in and coming out covered in blood, townie tits spilling out fighting and chucking bottles. Can't imagine what it was like inside 'cause we were sneezing and suffering outside with the gas. That was when we decided to go to the Corporation which ended up being great - apart from blokey blokes on the dance floor when 'Smells Like Teen Spirt' was on. Rubbish.

I remember a time not so long ago when the Kasbar was pretty cool, now it just seems to let any old fighty bloke in. The fact it's now a fighty meat market is sad 'cause the atmosphere downstairs used to be cool.

I've been DJing downstairs on a Friday night for the last two weeks and not seen an ounce of bother. In fact the atmosphere has been very happy and everyone's had a really good time - no tension, no idiots. Can't speak for Saturdays.

I really think this was a one off. As i posted in the other thread about the event on Saturday night, I've been DJing downstairs on Friday nights and have not seen any trouble at all. No fighting, nothing....just a great atmosphere and people having fun.

I was there on sat night (downstairs) and first I knew of it was loads of girls in the toilets with eyes streaming talking about CS gas.

Someone else in the club said there'd been a big fight (football related possibly?) and some CS gas had been let off and the police had said either go into the club or leave.. and closed upstairs.

Me and a group of friends were about 2yds away from the fight .It wasn`t that big but the poor lad was injured in a pretty bad way by the looks of him.
I havn`t heard anything since and I hope the lad gets better soon.

Heh - that's pretty funny. When it was the Wap, all we'd hear was that the place was getting demolished/filled in/changed. It was usually something to do with the hotel above.
