I was considering this area for a possible exchange, mainly because the houses are of a decent size downstairs as well as upstairs.
Obviously the area has a reputation, but is it really as bad as its painted?

I know some-one who lived on Badger close when the houses were built less than ten years ago. My info is slightly out of date but i doubt if much has changed.
There are one or two families living in the area who seemed to be very well known to the local police and although the troublesome kids I knew have probably grown a bit and you never know improved their behaviour there were younger kids who would by now be just getting into their stride.
However that end of the estate is better than the other end and most of the people living on the close were happy enough to say hello but otherwise kept themselves to themselves
I can't remember whether all the houses had the same off-shot downstairs loo but if the house you are looking at is like this be warned that loo is freezing in cold weather as there wasn't a radiator in it.
Yorkshire Metropolitan housing assoc. who own most of the houses round there were fairly good with any maintenance and keeping the woodwork painted but could get a bit stroppy with the tenats if the gardens became overgrown wildernesses.
A bit of a trek up the hill to the shops but perfectly possible to do in ten minutes or so.
Several very convenient fields down on the other side of Badger road leading over to the railway station which is great if you've got a dog.
Are you lookng at either number 11 or 13? Just curious

I think it depends on who you wind up with next door. ;)
Just keep your eyes open (and your ears) when you go to look.
There are a couple of 'patches' there that look ok, but on the whole, I'd give the place a wide birth.
Depends on where you're swapping from though, I suppose ;)
And try being cheeky! Knock next door and introduce yourself before you make a decision. If the person who answers the door is far from friendly, you know where you'd stand if you move in :P

Thank you both for your replies. The info is very useful. Im not sure that there is a swap any more, so I cant tell you which one. A guy rang me up yesterday all keen, said he'd ring back when spoken to wife, but didnt.
Im moving from a very nice spot, trouble is we need the space, desperately!
