A Hungarian friend of mine is thinking of moving to Sheffield for personal/family reasons. However he needs to make some job contacts etc. He has considerable experience as a computer graphics artist and sound engineer. Can anyone suggest/offer avenues of employment?

There are some computer games companies in Sheffield, they might be interested in artists or sound engineers.

I really wouldn't advise trying Sheffield for computer game artists. There's a lot of artists looking for work around Sheffield at the moment since Infogrames Sheffield closed down, so competition for the few jobs that do surface will be very fierce I should think.

It's probably just bad timing. Despite Sheffield's reputation as a city of new media and creativity and the arts etc, there are currently very few jobs available in that field.
