D's (my dog) has been making massive head way in approaching strange dogs this summer and I'm really pleased with him however... D can make some of the nicest dogs turn funny if he's being odd :hihi: But I'm seriously wondering if he gives some werid smell off, male dogs either seem to want to play and hump him (very impolite) or hate him and either stay well clear  The girls all seem to  him, he's in his element at agility as most of the dogs are girlies He does not hump them, just plays :)

He's learning at the moment that when a dog tries to hump him he is to run to me so they 'fall off', or he has started to turn it into a play opportunity which I'm encouraging  Sometimes he just stands there looking at me until I move the other dog off and he does eventually start to grumble at it if I did not move it off in a reasonable amount of time (not a good idea when he's wearing a muzzle).

He's becoming quite placcid but I've never had a dog that seems to attract so much humping :hihi: Any ideas? Is it because he's a bit socially stupid? Does your dog hump other male dogs/ or is humped frequently by other dogs?

I'm trying to work out how he should be reacting so I teach him the right thing  I thought it was some sort of dominace thing but it seems to go on a lot to D, though he does not seem overly bothered by it and sometimes gets his own back!

Danny has a humping problem although he is mostly the humper and not the humpee (?!).

I think he has picked it up from playing with his friend who is a Labradoodle and walks with him a lot. They think it is great fun to do it to each other and to be fair, if ever another dog does it to Danny, he just stands and looks at me with a comically woeful expression!

The problem now is that if he meet a Labrador, (don't ask me why but it is only Labradors), he now thinks he has to hump them and it isn't always appreciated :|

I've taken to holding onto him when I see one approaching because he just finds them irresistible and I'm sure he's going to get himself into trouble with it one day.

It is only the males and a lot of them seem to think it's fun too but not all of them. He's good around all other dogs and adapts his play for puppies and older dogs but it seems with Labs he just knows no limits!

Odd things dogs aren't they? :hihi:

Theres a dog in our local park thats in love with cockers. My two always get humped (one male one female) by him. Both of them have worked out how to wiggle free now

Dexter humps his friends if hes being prevented from playing with them. So if you example they're on their leads or they're playing with someone other than him. I kind of think its abit of pent up energy from wanting to play but not being able to.

Well my cat tried to hump the dog the other week (!) and apparently one time when my OH was walking her, a tiny little JRT type dog tried to have a go... it must have been an amusing sight this little terrier trying to go for it on leggy Leia!

Luna is the biggest flirt in the world and therefore attracts a lot of male attention. The worst time was when I went to meet one of RainRescue's friends about being a potential dog sitter. She has four lurchers which Luna seemed to send mad and all four of them simultaneously humped her for the whole walk.... It's never happened like that since but she definitely gives off a bit of a smell which sends the boys a bit mad!

my sis springer is the humper not the humpee lol he is castrated and quite an anxious ex rescue dog so we can never understand it? he will hump anything that lets him get away with it.

diamond doesnt get humped by anything ever she will not tolerate it but i think thats because she is a dominant and highly strung dog.

poor damon he must be irresistable in the dog world he even got his face humped by that little dog at beeley woods lol

That was so funny :hihi: when that little dog did that, D's head was nearly as big as the dog! It seems to be happening more and more just lately!

Strangely they don't do it if he is not wearing his muzzle  I think they have worked out he can't nip them!
