... of anyone handy with sewing machine. Yes I know it's not knitting related, but there's some common ground; I certainly have an interest in sewing too but don't have an instruction book for my sewing machine and rugby (and knitting) take up too much time for me to learn by trial and error.

Anyway - I haven't bought any fabric yet, but I wanted two pairs of curtains making up; I'm prepared to pay of course. I know I could go to Dunelm or somewhere similar, but would rather give it to someone local rather than a faceless national chain provided they can work to a professional standard.

Equally I'm a bit limited in fabric choice with the nationals, if I source myself I have a wider gamut to choose from.

No worries if not, but thought I would ask here. I'm only a two year local (from Cambs originally), and I can't think of anyone here really. You lot seem fairly knowledgable about all things crafty. It'd a pity you don't knit curtains, I could do it myself then.

What sewing machine have you got, you can go to the manufactures (normally their website) and get a copy so you will have a guidance.

If you get stuck with that I found a nice pattern for victorian looking curtains, and who said you couldn't knit curtains ;)

It's a Frister and Rossman Club 8. Unfortunately they have gone out of business. I know of someone who has a manual, but they're not forthcoming with a photocopy.

I need them before I die of old age :D I knit a few socks and scarves myself but big projects scare the bejesus out of me.
