View Full Version : Old ford consul
spritulist 14-07-2010, 21:39 hi my mate has a 1960 mk 2 consul.it was started in 93 with a full restoration.new doors, wings, bonnet, boot and 2 recon engines, and brand new gearbox, the body has new sills, and all the welding is done.and has been resprayed.the body/shell is like new.now he does not know how to put it back as it was fully striped in 93.its just sat their with hundreds of parts,we have hung the doors, bonnet, and fitted the engine, gearbox.thats it.and hes been buying loads of extra parts,iv told him to sell it,as its to bigger job to put back..he says im good with lammys and a35s..but i told him their a walk in the park.not like big fords.that i know nothing about..it is like new tho.as any one got any advise.he started with big ideas with a morris minor 5 years ago..yes thats the same as it was then 5 years ago..shame to see this one stand in a corner for the next 5-10 years or so.as its took him 4 weeks to fit a head light front rubber to the front wing...

spritulist 21-07-2010, 21:29 we when to collect it the car is mint.all new or second hand pannels.we filled a ford transit pick up with extra spairs..and the car was full, and boot was full off parts in boxes, theirs high line, low line parts, engines, props, theirs too many to list..the guy has people comming from classic breakers, but its too good to break.the floor is as new,and only small bits was welded around the sill as they are brand new.put on in 93.and until recent the old owner rebuilt the whole car shell with a spray job ..the head lining is brand new.so are some parts.if it does not sell for what he wants..he will break it.as hes been offerd £400 for the wings.£250 for the bonnet, and £150 for the boot, but he does not want it breaking.so if your interested call mark up in the ebay ad...
spritulist 21-07-2010, 21:38 the gearbox we fitted had never been on a car it was brand new with the old type hard grease type stuff on it and had plugs in it which was the old ford factory.it still has the old esso cross ply tyres.a full set..and about 5-6 carbs, manifolds, spare wind screans, theirs that much.to list every thing would take me days

Did he start showing off about it or was he happy with the car??
John:)
spritulist 30-07-2010, 10:40 yes he was looking for chips in the paint work,he came without a trailer to drive it home.he thought it was taxed tested...best of all he told ebay that it was discribed wrong.that restoration ment it could be driven home??yesturday this same guy was ringing from 8 in the morning all day pestering to buy it again..not £920 as that was his bid but £500 and that he now had a trailer to collect it
spritulist 30-07-2010, 10:46 my mate said its against ebay rules and you complained to ebay saying you did want it as their was no tax-test and chips in the paint work.as stated it was a project, and started in 93..while i was with my mate tho the phone was going crazy with this guy but my mate told him the bidder that wants it for salvage so another ford bites the dust
spritulist 30-07-2010, 10:53 yes he wanted a 2010 ford consul with out chips in the paint work.taxed-tested.my mate told him theirs a car next door 3 months old with chips in the paint work..so a 50 year old car is hard to find without paint damage.but that was his main reason he gave ebay that chips was not in the ad..but if had phoned up first my mate would have told him about the chips????mines a fish with plenty of salt vinigar please
spritulist 30-07-2010, 10:55 yes he wants it for £500
May dad had one of these in the late 60s and early 70s. It was flat grey with red leather seats. It was alright for cruising around in but a bit clumsy to do anything worthwhile.

How did your mate go on with this??
I think i would have told the winning bidder to go away in jerky motions if he came offering half the winning bid:mad:
Fleabay can be a bit hit and miss, i've only ever had an issue with one person that was selling copied DVD's, they weren't described as such and i had put a large-ish bid on, luckily it didn't go to my maximum bid.
The seller was pestering me for his +ve feedback and in the meantime, left me neutral feedback so i negged him good and proper!!
He sent me loads of emails threatening all sorts of grief but i think he must be walking as he's not got here yet (this was a few years ago too:D )
John:)
EDIT_ Ooops, i didn't realise that the wife was logged in, it should have been me (biggsy)!!!!!
