Now I get to do this to myself........ :D

I'm sure there was a thread for this before........ and I'm sure it was me who started it

Anyway, until it turns up (or cgk finds it for me ;) ).....

I went to see 'Much Ado About Nothing' thanks to SHsheff for organising us a forum meet  , and saw this bunch (http://www.alvinailey.org/) at the Alhambra in Bradford last Friday.

I could get into this theatre going lark :)

I see shows all the time because my boyfriend is a musical director and I go to "watch him work"... Last thing I saw was a youth production of Return To The Forbidden Planet in Bradford, one before that was a similar sort of thing, Summer Holiday in London... I go to see everything that Worksop and Dinnigton operatic do (at least twice) and also Sheffield Teachers operatic cos thats who he works for!

Teachers are doing Witches of Eastwick and it sounds fantastic - at the Lyceum in November!

I think it was 'Death of a salesman' but the one I remember was a christmas panto and I was in a bad mood. The 'funny' guy on stage was trying to get a bit of audience participation and was picking on people and saying they looked grouchy and telling them to laugh in his panto manner. Unfortunately he picked on the wrong person and realised it rapidly when in a fairly loud voice I told him to 'sod off'
As I said I was in a bad mood

I was part of the shakespeare forum event "thingie", last wednesday.

I love going to the theatre.

Before that i went to see round the horne revisited, the friday before last. (that was just fantastic)

i want to see the "rat pack" show, coming up soon, at the lyceum, and the bacharach and david show "promises, promises".

Myself and a former workmate are having our usual "event" of going to see "joseph", in December. (which, it seems might turn into a mass trip with most of the folk i worked with going along.

There is a Harold Pinter Season coming up at Sheffield Theatres soon which Im looking forward to. If you can look past Nigel Harman and his big face advertising the The Caretaker, it looks like it should be good!

Nigel Harman and his big face advertising the The Caretaker

I saw Nigel Harman in Guys & Dolls in London, and he was fabulous. Have never really been a fan of his, but it certainly made me see him in a new light!

Saw 'The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists' many years ago at the Library Theatre. That was in the days when we all had the socialist dream, nowadays I am a lot more cynical.
Damn good play though.

Desperate to see "wicked" when that opens in the west end in september, would also like to see "evita"....i wish i was in musicals:)

I've seen a lot of stuff this year including Saturday night fever, which i took my son to and he loved it.

Last thing i saw was Dirty Dusting, which was funny.

And have tickets for the Caretaker and something else with the West's in it in October, and Fiddler on the roof in Dec.

Will have to see what the Uni drama studio has to offer this year. Hope there is some good stuff.

I cant remember the last time I went to the theater because it was so long ago. I dont think ill be going for a while either because all we have here is an old railway carriage that doubles for a cinema and a theater, it only holds about 40 people.

Disney's Beauty and the Beast at Lyceum about a fortnight ago...

Meh, it was OK, bit slow in teh first half, second half was more interesting IMO, and as for the actress who played Belle, some of the barmaids in our local are better looking... Not that she was ugly, she was nice... I dunno maybe we were too far away from the stage to see her enough to appreciate her beauty :(

Overall, decent but not something I'd pay £53 for 2 tickets to see again.

Might go and see Joseph and his Dreamcoat again in November though, haven't been for a couple of years even though admittedly I've seen it loads.

16 years ago, I need to go more often. Last saw Sarafina on Broadway, New York. Brilliant play and the dancing / singing was out of this world and next level. Even saw Richard Gere in the vip section. Quality.
Not seen any plays locally or in London. would like to but i do not think many would interest me.

On Tuesday I went to see the Cholmondeleys and Featherstonehaughs (Chumleys and Fanshaws), one of the very best contemporary dance companies in Britain. They're not po-faced or precious like some performance groups. They're accessible and exciting and original. They were absolutely amazing, with loads of character and fun and cheekiness. But no-one else I've met since has heard of them, so I can't rave about it. (Apart from just now, of course.) :(
