View Full Version : Unofficial Forum Meet-Monday 19th July-Harlequin-7.30pm.
Swami Dhyan 12-07-2010, 09:07 It's time to don the "glad rags" and gird the loins for this month's Harlequin meet. The pub can be found on Nursery Street. There is a vast FREE car park next door. I will post details of buses later in the week as Nursery Street is one-way only at the moment because of works on Lady's Bridge.
Everyone is invited...especially any "newbies" looking to have a lovely evening and make new friends...or indeed...just to put faces to names. :)
So...who fancies the craic? :partyhat:

I could very well be tempted...it's about time I got out more. :D
I guess I could put £10 away from my birthday shenanigans this Friday and save it for Monday, so, might as well stick me down :)
I may condescend to honour you with my company! :hihi:

Which means I'll have to be there to keep her in check. :help::suspect:
Sounds good to me :). I'm off work, so no excuse.
I'm in town for a fortnight, plus I can get Ghozer a drink for his birthday, so put me down! Probably plus 1.
SpiderPete 13-07-2010, 11:18 Put me down as a yes as well, and since its Ghozer`s birthday I`ll get him one as well :)
Swami Dhyan 13-07-2010, 17:43 I could very well be tempted...it's about time I got out more. :D

Add another drink from me and it's anybody's guess what sort of state he'll finish up in.
its actually been my birthday today (13th), so it'll be a week late... but i'll not refuse drinks if they are thrust in my general direction :D

As long as you're now old enough to drink :hihi:
Northrend 14-07-2010, 06:43 As long as you're now old enough to drink :hihi:
He still gets asked for ID in some places. The lucky bugger :hihi::hihi::rant:

Ah...the folly of youth. I remember it well! :hihi:
Belated greetings for yesterday.
BasilRathbon 14-07-2010, 19:54 I'm quite tempted to go to one of these meets someday but I fear I would find some of the regulars on here somewhat intimidating, judging by their posts.

Fear not young Basil...I've only once been intimidated at these meets. A certain gentleman in lycra cycling shorts created quite a stir once upon a time. :hihi:
(Not to mention a flame red posing pouch)

Basil, the people who go to these meets are very friendly and would make you most welcome.
Chelle01 15-07-2010, 17:17 I'll be there! I enjoyed meeting people last time, hope to meet even more this time!

Nowt better than a good glassing Bazzer.

Tsk - your memory's going, dear, it was hot pink, not flame red!!
Hope you can manage to remember to turn up on Monday. :hihi:

Ah but I have a perfectly reasonable excuse you see. I'm colour blind. :D
I hav'nt forgotten the sheer horror though.
NB: Treatment old boy...the only "glassing" at these meetings is the emptying of. :hihi:
Swami Dhyan 17-07-2010, 08:14 The road works at the Wicker end of Nursery Street are well behind the advertised schedule. This means the 47/48/53 buses will not stop outside the Harlequin if you are travelling from the Herdings or Low Edges termini.
If you get off at the stop below the Boardwalk it's a 2 minute walk along the river. Who knows...you may catch sight of a kingfisher or a heron...a bonus in any currency. :)
SpiderPete 19-07-2010, 11:14 I am looking forward to a pint, chances are I will be there a bit earlier than normal :)
MuteWitness 19-07-2010, 18:16 I will make it down for a pint.
harvey19 19-07-2010, 18:28 Sorry, I can't make it tonight.
Have a graet time.
SpiderPete 19-07-2010, 22:19 dreadful place, dreadful people

If you were there and not mentioned I beg a thousand pardons...I exceeded my "limit" by two pints. It's a lame excuse but it's still the best I can muster!...hic!
I had a most fulfilling evening and I thank each and every one of you for your own particular input to the proceedings. Dozy...it finally dawned on me tonight...you are totally incorrigible...I think I love you.

And you are very, very slow if it's taken you this long to work that out!!
It was a splendid evening, despite the presence of one of those dreadful gays!! :hihi:
But my darling Jet cancelled out that horror for me, though I think he was a little distressed by the audacious attempts of a certain harridan to tempt him from my side with crispy bribes.
dreadful place, dreadful people
Absolutely dreadful my dear.:D
Most dreadful night. I can't believe I heard Jet was going. I thought you meant the one off Gladiators. :hihi:

Them chuffin gays everywhere these days. Nicking our women :suspect: and jobs and that.
:mad::rant:
Next time I go out it'll be t't Sir Francis Rawson!:hihi:
Thanks for organising SD, good company, and thanks Andy and Cat for the lift home :)
Swami Dhyan 20-07-2010, 00:09 Next month's meet at the Harlequin is Monday the 16th August and I am planning something special. Watch this space! :heyhey:

who?
message too short
I'd turn up, but the mate who recommended this site to me told me it might be a bit of a clique and I wouldn't get a look in :(
Can anyone convince me otherwise?

Why not come along and see for yourself. Anybody is welcome to come and join in the fun. Once upon a time I was a stranger to forum meets and I was made welcome and I hope we carry on that tradition.

Thanks for the reply Mort, but do you really think I'll be ok?
I've had many people on here disagree with me quite strongly before, so I don't want to turn up and start offending people.
How does the night go? Are the topics of conversation quite emotive, or is it a more casual atmosphere?
It's a very relaxed night out in a rather nice pub with good beer. Conversations range from the daft to the more serious but I've never seen anybody have a serious disagreement, or for that matter any sort of disagreement. It's a fun night out with people who have, in my case at least, become friends. Come along and give it a try it's the only way you'll know for sure, but I for one never regretted going to that first meet.
Swami Dhyan 20-07-2010, 08:21 You missed Chelle01.... and i'm assuming some came after I left as there was some you listed who werent there when I left....
Thanks Ghozer...it's sorted. :)

Hiya Gram, My experience of these meets is nothing but positive. Those forum members who don't know how to behave in public don't come to the meets...they hide behind their keyboards.
As mort says...come and join us next month. :)
MuteWitness 20-07-2010, 08:45 Thanks for organising last night Swami, I won't leave it so long next time. :)
Swami Dhyan 20-07-2010, 09:03 It just occurred to me that I hav'nt thanked Liz, our host for the evening.
I have now. :)
sounds like fun
It was - they always are!
Everyone welcome, and we do try to be gentle with those of a nervous disposition!
Seriously, though, it's all very informal and friendly with lots of laughs, the occasional burst of sensible/serious discussion and never an argument - not that I've noticed, anyway.
Fishcake 22-07-2010, 16:25 Will there be another one?
Swami Dhyan 22-07-2010, 16:43 Will there be another one?
It's Monday 16th August. Be there or be square. :)

Can I be there and be square or do I have to dress like one of the cool kids?
harvey19 22-07-2010, 16:53 Be there or be square. :)
Sounds a bit like the Free mason terminology !!!!
