View Full Version : Where to go for a quiet-ish drink
eighty4 20-09-2005, 11:46 PM Im taking a friend of mine out this friday for a drink, she's never been to sheffield before so the choice of where we drink is up to me.
Only problem is when i go out i go out to the noisy lively bars, but i dont wanna take her somewhere where we have to shout to hear eachother.
Do you have any suggestions as to what city centre pubs to go to that arent to loud or quiet and are still lively ?
your info will be much appeciated :-) thanks
seesee 21-09-2005, 02:17 PM i would advise you to go to Boho ... it is a lively and filled with jazzy music. it is actually a bar restaurant and they have a great variety of spirits and drinks.
Snakey_B 21-09-2005, 10:58 PM Id say Swim inn (weatherspoons no music) Lounge is a small quiet-ish bar , Sharkeys early dont have too loud music , Cavendish has background stuff .Bia Hoi and Muse im sure have background stuff.Lloyds ,2nd weather spoons and also stardust and corner house are all quiet
Tony45 21-09-2005, 11:10 PM Somewhere that will suit your requirements for lively yet with music at a level that will allow you to chat...

TheWatcher 21-09-2005, 11:14 PM The Rutland on Brown Street, will be just the job for you.
Ousetunes 22-09-2005, 12:19 PM Nah, quiet environment with good ale?
Riverside, onto Fat Cat, round to Kelham Island Tavern then up to Fagan's.
Class pubs all. Top beer, comfortable surroundings and all quiet with possibly the exception of Fagan's where an impromptu sesh might be kicking off in the back room.
Try the Red Deer in town, I don't know the name of the street that it's on but it's one of the side roads off West Street, near Sharkeys.
Nice place (quiet), good beer and good prices
DQ before 9pm. Near West One/Devon****e Green
steve_hart 22-09-2005, 02:44 PM The Rutland should be perfect

at the weekend.
erm. Rutland is nice for a pub place. Red Lion is also good. Nice and cosy.
The Red Deer is a bit busy. The Bath House and Red deer are pleasant and quiet pubs.
Bar wise. All bar One isn't too pad. I assume Sola isn't too loud.
