What, the famous Phil Collins album with just his face against a black background...

I NEVER knew Phil was speed garage. Or maybe he is a regular on the 1 2's at Niche. Hurrah! ;)

Whuuuut's going on 'ere then?
I've heard plenty of people - including people in the music industry - refer to Niche's distinctive blend of Speed Garage & Bassline House as "Niche Music"... I've even seen club flyers in Leeds and Nottingam that described their music policy as "Niche Tunes". So, arse to you lot. :P

And yes, I love it.

And Phil Collins is long overdue a slot at the allnighter

:D

No boss, the fact that you love it certainly doesn't mean it is Niche music.;)

What might be considered to mean that, though, is the fact that TONS of people (including some who produce, sell, promote and DJ the bleedin' stuff) refer to it as "Niche music", and if I was going to insult them all in the style of this thread, I'd have a very big job on my hands....

i agree with bully_beef
Its been known everwhere as niche music for donkeys yearz. Well when ever i ask someone what type of music they listen to they'll say niche, niche, niche, niche,
I Do realise the proper term is 'speed garage' before anyone thinks of correcting me. But niche is the term thats used more for it, and why shoudlnt it, its the name of the home of speed garage.

No not at all. maybe in Sheffield, but thats because Niche is up here. Back in Birmingham hardly anyone knows what you are going on about if you were to tell them you are listening to 'niche' music, and I dont hear many people in the industry calling it 'Niche' music either.

Im a big fan of it, but I know it isnt 'Niche' music.

found out the other day that my mates brother is a dj at niche. DJ fergusson.

I did a disco at the weekend covering for Kirky, taking requests as usual and this blonde came up and asked for "niche music"....ok says I and plays about 10 tracks - bear in mind that these are tracks from Niche cd's.

A short while later the said blonde comes back up asking when I ws putting them on - informed her that I had just played a load, at this point she started kicking off saying "they werent f*****g niche tunes"

So, obviously there are people out there that know more about what gets played at Niche than the club themselves !

And before anyone asks, I have never been to the place and have no intention of ever gracing the establishment with my presence...in other words, I wouldnt be seen dead in there :D

Yes I have. It is rubbish. Most people who listen to it range between the ages of 12 and 16 and live on council estates.

They usually play it to attract a shooting when they want a pub closing down.
