Hello

Just been through Hillsborough Park and saw people fishing. I

I never realised you could fish there! lol.

Was wondering what people thought of it, what type of fish are in there, size and any comments on fishing it??

Thanks

yeah always been able to fish there, living in hillsborough has always been good for fishing spots, could have a cracking day out fishing the ponds through riverlin, hillsborough park used to be hard to catch sometimes during the summer as it was over fished, don't know what it's like now, not fished it from being a kid, might be worth a go though, bring back some happy memory's

Yes loads of fish in there. If you know how to fish you will catch every cast, not big big but not bad. Mainly roach and pike, not seen any carp. Hope that helps.

No pike in HP,roach, perch, tench, carp and allegedly chub.No one has ever caught every cast, another fisherman lie.As has been mentioned in other threads Environment agency are advising not to fish due to blue/green algae.

The term 'catch every cast' don't really explain a lot JayNTray,
as the time period between casting out, getting a bite and hooking
a fish could vary from seconds to minutes or even hours.
And I'm not talking about Pike or Carp fishing with the aid bite alarms,
that's a different kettle of fish.

once you have it baited up you can pull them out every few mins. as soon as you drop in. not in to lazyman fishing with the bite alarms an stuff

yes we walk the dog in the park and have seen these signs up too. I drove my uncle here a couple of months ago, dropped him off and took my auntie shopping round hillsborough and in the couple hours we were gone he didn't catch anything.

If there is this dangerous algae in the pond, surely eating the caught fish would be dangerous?

You should not eat dead fish anyway!

You should not eat dead fish anyway!

It's kinda hard to eat live ones - they die quite soon after starting....

Anyway....:suspect:
I've fished there many times (not in the last year) and have caught plenty of roach, a few perch and a few tench (one that was 4 - 5lb easy!). Seen but never caught the carp.

P.S. You're meant to put the fish back, not take them and eat them!

Crumbs nighthawk- that's a real nice Orfe, it would cost a few bob to buy one of that size for your garden pond:o:o

They same bloke weighed a tench for me at 4lbs and about 45mins later he cayght one at 5.5lbs.
