Moving to bournemouth or surrounding area soon.
Pls advise as to areas to avoid in terms of crime, chavs, general grottiness. Much appreciated

In my experience there are no grotty areas, it is all pretty smart.

Hi,
Ive just moved back from poole, I worked in Bournemouth the only places I wouldn't recommend are Boscome and Kings park near the football stadium.
West Cliffe is very nice however also very expensive and if you dont mind the surrounding area's Broadstone and Parkstone in Poole are also very nice area's and only 15 - 25 min drive to bournemouth town depending on traffic both also have direct buses that go straight through.
Hope you enjoy your move and good luck.

I really like Bournemouth. Have a couple of friends there and have always found it a nice place to stay / live.
Good luck in your move xxx

Bournemouth is the best! So many happy memories of family hols there...lovely part of the world - would love to live there! Watch out for the Branch Davidians in Poole though - they are a cult who try to recruit members on the high street - if anyone tries to get you to fill in a questionnaire - DON'T!!!! Their headquarters are in Poole House towards the Harbour - I did a project on them at Uni...

Southboune, Tuckton and Christchurch all V nice. Boscombe gets a bit grotty but that still isnt bad. Depends which side of Bournemouth you want to go. These are all to the east, whereas Poole, Parkstone etc are to the west. Id cut off my right arm to move back down there!
I've been lucky enough to live in west cliffe for 6 months and enjoyed every minute of it. True that B'mouth can be a bit "quiet", depending on what you like.. I cannot really remember being warned against any particuliar spots and have not met many chavs down there, but that was in 1996, so maybe things have changed since!
All the best for your move!:)
