I usually do the same pub crawl every Saturday, but my friends and I want to do something different. We've considered the usual bowling/cinema ideas etc, but we are open to alternative suggestions. Any ideas?

Try organising a night out in Leeds or Manchester and stay in a hotel for the night. If not then try Rotherham, it's a good crack.

You could always try a spot of shopping at Meadowhall.

Not exactly my idea of fun on a saturday night,or any other time in fact, but each to his own.
I would definatly say Leeds is worth checking out for a weekend. Some really nice bars and clubs there. What we do is get there saturday and go out drinking and then on sunday go and watch Yorkshire play at headingly, obviously only when the cricket season starts.
We usually stop at the Hilton in the city center as you can get some decent deals at the weekends.
hope thay helps!

This might be a daft question but does it always have to involve alcohol?!
Would going to the Dogs be your thing?
Or the races in Doncaster?
Or going to support the Steelers?
Or going to the Lescar comedy club?

I would recommend all the above (IMHO!).

Cheers for all the suggestions guys. Does the Lescar do comedy on a Saturday? Are there any other places for comedy at the weekend?

What? apart from Hillsborough football ground:D

I heard there was a comedy club at a hotel just up from the Hallamshire hospital that has a saturday session, anyway where is the Lescar club?

There's a thread somewhere on Lescar / comedy club.
Can't remember what night not saturday though.
:(
Just pick up a metro paper for ideas.
Or perhaps you and your mates should all think of one thing each (put a price limit on - or a few different limits) - put them in a hat and pick one at a time and do it.
Bet you'll come up with loads of things that someone's always wanted to do that rest of you wouldn't have thought of! And so long as its something fun you should all enjoy yourselves.
Let us know if you get any odd ones!:P

Just to let you know that we're off to the dogs on Saturday, thanks to Lou's suggestion. Cheers buddy!

I like your suggestion hiyabeing - will certainly try it.

The lescar pub is on a street behind Eccy road near Hunters Bar roundabout, and it's a very good boozer - never seen the stand up acts there though.

I would have thought that Wednesday are more of a tragedy then a comedy.

I didn't realise that the Lescar comedy night is only on a Thursday. I've only been once but it was a top night. I suppose it depends how good the comedians are though. I don't know about any comedy nights on a Saturday.

I hope you enjoyed the dogs Funky Dave :) .

Certainly did Lou - lost a small fortune, the food was abysmal (£5.30 for chicken, chips and a breadcake:o ), and I loved every minute of it! We also found a promotional feature in the Sun newspaper that got us in for free.

Thanks for suggesting it.

Should have warned you about the food - the pork sarnies are great but the chicken isn't :)

Bed will be re-opening in March, drains are knackered and need sorting before they can.
