Keeping it in the "Mac Family" hasn't resulted in any of their other monopoly lines being a failure, probably be a big hit as Apple have a great following and fantastic marketing budget.
So I doubt it will be a flop.

I think even apple are starting to distance themselves from this insubstantial piece of yesterday's hardware.
At least other apple products have comparable features to their rivals. considering the number of hdd phones starting to appear, with 512meg of proprietary memory card, it isn't going to ring anyone's bell.
If it looked like an ipod, with the jog wheel etc, it might have stood a chance. Maybe it will do better in the US where phones are not as advanced as europe.

I agree, but one should never underestimate the power of marketing hype, which is and always has been Apple's forte.

The problem with the 'iTunes' phone is that it was designed by Motorola, not Apple. It would have turned out very different (and infinitely better) it it was a genuine Apple phone. The restricted memory capacit cripples it and Motorola's phone re is poor compared to Nokia or Samsung.
