Get in touch with Sheffield College and request a meeting with a course advisor/careers advisor. You can find their contact details on the website. They will tell you everything you need to do and how to go about it

It would also be a good idea to find some sort of voluntary work with young children. (cubs, beavers, etc.)

If you want to be a nursery nurse (working with kids 0-5) you need a L3 NVQ in Childcare - you don't have to go to college for this, you can work and study where the assessors visit you whilst you are at work - the wages are not good for those who aren't qualified though (and not amazing when you are either - you wouldn't do this job for the money) and often people volunteer for a couple of days a week at a nursery locally whilst they get their L3... Good luck!

If you want to be a teacher in a nursery school then the qualifications for nursery are the same as everyone else, a degree + PGCE or a 4 year combined subject degree and teacher training course. There may be other routes, but I think you need to talk to Hallam Uni rather than Sheffield College.

My wife is just about to complete the Early Years Professional course at Hallam and she loves it, so that may be something to have a look at too - good luck with route you go for! :)

sheffield council should be able to help you....i know some councils run adult courses and nursery teacher course is very common.....the classes are once/ twice a week.....u can also take up some voluntary job as its very difficult to get a job without experience....

I'd also recommend volunteering as that will give you some experience and a reference. Check out the following websites for more info:

Good luck!
