Paint restoration / detailing.

What’s the difference I am guessing that paint restoration is a “deeper” process than buffing and polishing, can anyone recommend a reputable place in the South Yorkshire area?

Last year I started to get what looked like swirl marks even though I am careful when cleaning / polishing and these have got progressively worse to the point where they are all over the car.

Most of them are in an arc shape and I have been advised they are “buffing” marks which have started to show through the paint.

Before going to the expense of a re-spray which seems a bit over the top as you can’t feel the marks / scratches with your nail and they aren’t even visible on an overcast day I am looking for a second opinion as they look terrible on a sunny day.

Thanks for any comments or advice..

Have you tried a compound on a area to see if that will remove them.
Sounds like what we used to call cob webs or swirls as you said.If there arked then that sounds like the way its been washed or polished. There could be another reason if its been resprayed at anytime but thats a total respray to correct it.
You could try a buffer but buff it wrong with wrong material could make it even worse you will have swirls then lol.Bit hard to say without seeing it but im no longer in trade now.

I will try a compound on a inconspicuous area, I have nothing to lose :( what is the other reason if it’s had a respray. .

hi mate i am a pro detailer, based in Sheff, if you need any advice give me a bell or visit website. 20+ yrs experience.

What i can tell you though is that as someone has stated in another thread use G3(compound) and polisher, incorrect use of these can not only make your cars paint worse but can also damage paintwork to a point where fresh paint will be needed.
