Got thinking today about some of them great moments in films that you will always love to watch so I thought i'd list my personal top 5.
1. Superman III - when he his fighting himself in the scrapyard as Clark Kent and beats the bad Superman he rips open his shirt to reveal the 'S' with the main music of Superman as a backing track
2. The Matrix - When Neo realises he's the one and destroys Smith
3. Heat - The very ending when Pacino shoots De Niro's character and holds him as he's dying with a Moby song as the backing track
4. Bladerunner - The 'Tears in Rain' speech by Rutger Hauer at the end
5. Empire Strikes Back - "I am your Father"...speaks for itself really
Any others to add??
All brought me to tears :heyhey:
ET: The bit where he "dies" on the operating table, had me bawling that, well I was only 6 in 1982... :P
And in the Lion King, when Mufasa dies.. Can't remember what the final words were but it's so emotional.
In no particular order (and the ones that come to mind right now)
John Hurt's chestburster.
Andy & Red's re-union.
Dick Dale & His Del-Tones' "Miserlou" kicking in
Tommy De Vito's after dinner story
30 mins of mind numbing terror & chaos that start with: "Clear the ramp! Thirty seconds. God be with ya!"
Elephant Man from start to credits
Especially when he just wants to lie down.

"There!"
Ba badaba, bab dabaaa
Brilliant.
I feel a bit out of place after reading all the dramatic moments from films in the previous postings . I love comedy but I'll just quote one scene .
There are so many , "film moments " , my head's reeling anyway from the choices !
Well , this film was called [I think ] , 'The Bank Dick' and the star and anti-hero was W.C.Fields
Throughout the film , he has squandered the family's income in a local bar and , hence , his closest friend is the barman . There are loads of funny scenes about his drinking habits throughout the film ; his wife and daughter hate him for his fecklessness.
However , by the end of the film , W.C.Fields is in the money . They now love in a huge house , set in parkland . They are going out for a stroll. He is dressed in top hat and tails .His wife and daughter now fuss over him and walk on , slightly ahead.
Suddenly , in the distance , Fields spots the barman , off to work . No hesitation -----he follows the barman , leaving his family to go on ahead . As the barman disappears behind the foliage , Fields panics and breaks into a trot !
Brilliant ------off-beat , old ----but brilliant .
.
seanyboy 24-09-2005, 15:03 Nice thread, not sure i can come up with 5 but heres a start:
1. The opening credits to Alfred Hitchcocks "Psycho", pure genius from Saul Bass. Really gets you on edge.
2. The whole wedding party scene at the beginning of "The Godfather". There are so many other good parts to this movie, but this one sticks in my mind for some reason.
3. "Say Hello to my little friend!". So many good parts to Scarface, but this stands out when Tony takes everybody on after sitting in a mountain of coke. Classic!
Another comedy great , "popped up ".
In , Blazing Saddles , Gene Wilder is explainig to the new black Sheriff why he gave up gun-slinging and became an alcoholic .
"Well, " , he says , " I was the fastest draw in the West . I killed a lotta bad men . My finger was always on the trigger . I was walkin' down Main Street one day an' I heard a voice say ,
"Stick -em up , mister "
I pulled out the .45 , whirled round and there he was .......a six year old kid with a toy gun . I threw down my own gun and just walked away ".
{Pause }
The little ******* shot me right in the ass . "
pete_fcs 24-09-2005, 17:34 1: laurel and hardy with their feet in cement at the end of "our relations"

4: kes...all of it
5: opening shots of slade's "flame", where don powell rides his motorbike down the end of fox lane and onto kelvin flats
Contributions from non-funny films :--
1] Opening scenes and moody music from , 'In The Heat of the Night '.
2-3] Murder of the taxi driver in a Polish film that , unfortunately , I've forgotten the name of . Also , the hanging of the bloke who did the murder. It was done , documentary -style , so you felt you were watching a real murder and execution
4] [cheating here !] Any number of scenes from , " Schindler's List."
5 ] The , "corpse " , rising from the bath near the end of , "Les Diabolique " and then removing his , "eyeballs ".
Babooshka 25-09-2005, 13:32 Emilio Estevez playing Billy The Kid in Young Guns;
'I'll make ya famous'.
One or two more "contenders ' :--
1 and 2 ] Two scenes from , "On The Waterfront " . First Marlon Brando and Rod Steiger talking about life and death in the back of the car .
Second the fight at the end between Marlon Brando and Lee J. Cobb .
3 ] The last scene in , "Edith and Marcel " when " Piaf " sings a selection of her love songs .['Marcel' was Marcel Cerdan , World Champion Boxer , who died in a plane crash in the middle of his affair with Piaf ].
4] Any scene , almost , from , "Cinema Paradiso " , a brilliant Italian film about a little boy and his love of the cinema and his rise to become a famous film producer . [You can't NOT cry at some of the scenes ! ]
5 ] Back to Comedy -----when Olly [Laurel and Hardy ] is sitting at the bottom of a chimney after , "cleaning " it and the bricks keep falling on his head . Perfect timing !
