Hi there,
I am currently applying for University and doing my UCAS applications etc.
I am in my first year of college going into my second year studying health and social care. Whilst doing this course i have to do 2 different placements, doing enough hours to cover what i need to pass the course.
I was just wondering if there is anyone on here that will be able to get me into a placement in a midwifery setting, such as in a midwifery ward, when they visit the parents at home or at the doctors etc.
I really need a placement somewhere like there as the universities look for experience in that area. As i am only 16 (will be 17 for the placement) it is very hard for me to get into places i need to be without someone else that works in the place to get me a placement. And because i don't know anyone in that area i wouldn't be able to get a placement.
It is my dream career to be a midwife so any help will be very useful!!! :)
Thank you so much to anyone who has any help for me!! I really appreciate it!! :) :D

You could pop into your local surestart and see a health visitor there, and follow any leads from there. Or call your GP, ask if the midwife is available for a chat, she might call you and if you explain again your situation, follow those leads.

Not the case at all.

Write to them with your CV.

You probably need to call the nurse/midwife education and dvelopment department at RHH and explain your needs, and see what they have to offer you.

I'm surprised there isn't someone at your college who coordinates these placements though, ave you spoken to a tutor about this?

Thank you for all you replies, there is someone at my college that coordinates these placements but they said its too hard to get into hospitals etc so they don't try, they just make us do placements in care homes and nurseries which isn't really sufficient to get into university. Thanks again :)
