I'm moving to a new house in Killamarsh and were wanting any information about the area. Any help (nice area, crime, shops, schools etc) you can give would be grateful.

Thanks.

Hi John,

I've lived in Killamarsh (or The 'Marsh as it's known!) for nearly 5 years. I really like it, although some people are quite quick to slag the place off. Just like most other places it has it's problem areas but in general Killamarsh is a really nice place to live.

There is still a village feel about the place and people speak to you in the street, just to say hello!

There's plenty of shops - Co-op & Kwik Save supermarkets (although Morrison's at Halfway has a better choice if you're doing a "big shop"), and plenty of smaller shops - butchers, fruit & veg shop, hairdressers & beauty salons, barbers, card shops, DIY, car spares.

Theres a really good Indian Takeaway, a pizza place and three Chinese takeaways.

There are six pubs (another 2 closed down last year) - although none of them serve food which is the only thing that's missing really.

If you're sporty - there's the Leisure Centre and RotherValley is only 10 mins walk away, plus plenty of cycle tracks to go on.

Theres also an adult learning centre and a library, and a good doctors surgery.

Bus service into Sheffield and Rotherham (take about 30 mins into Sheffield), taxi fare is about £15 one way.

Hope this gives you an idea of what's available, let me know if you need any more info...

cheers

right, thanx for that sugar lump. We're not catholic, my daughter was christened. I know some catholic schools consider other children if they are christened even if not catholic don't they?? well she's not two yet, but i'll be sure to enquire as soon as we make the move. I'll have to look for pre-schools next year won't i?! thanx for your help.
