Is the wearing of tracksuit bottoms with formal shoes ever acceptable under any circumstances? :gag:

I don't see a problem with trousers and trainers but tracksuits with shoes? I don't think that really goes? Obviously its the person's choice. But since all my clothes and shoes are black I've got a little bit of an advantage with what goes together hehe
:D

I've seen this and it looks ridiculous.

The guy was about 60, way overweight, and he had tracksuit bottoms on with black leather slip-on shoes.

I had to look away.

I have to confess I wear heels with my trackies but... wait for my reason...

I can't drive in flat shoes! And if I have performing arts at college I need to wear trackies so I have no choice but to wear them and my heels.

But I do feel like an utter plonker!

Well I never knew you lived across the road from me! :hihi:

It's of a similar fashion faux pas as those laydeees who sport a tight, wet look Toni perm, wear a pink knitted top wih black bra, leggings & white stilletoes. While proud of their BMI of 40+

What about people wearing boots and tracksuit bottoms?

I'm going to be wearing my work boots with 'tracki' bottoms and if anyone takes the pi$* out of me i will have to firmly plant a steel toe cap up their backside :suspect:

This is an extremely good point.

And, to be fair to me, the trackies that I wear are very much like trousers, just easier to move in! ;)

Also, I can't wear trainers because of a problem with my foot, so what would you say then??
I can't wear trainers because of a problem so you're going to stop me wearing comfortable tracksuit bottoms too?! Not very fair!

:D

I wear plain grey trackie bottoms most of the time, but not the elasticated kind (£3 a pair from Primark). They seem to be regular retirement wear for men these days.

I'm also usually in sandals and socks unless it's raining when I walk the dog and I put on a pair of shoes., or snowing and I don the green wellies.

It's nice to find out I'm being outrageous, hopefully some of the idiots zooming around the lanes round here might be so gobsmacked at the sight of me they'll driive into a wall :heyhey:

White socks, much better than black socks with trainers.

socks & sandals - definately a hanging offence.

Thongs & speedos - if you've got the body for it why not, if you haven't please don't.

Oh yes, please do. I remember the RE teacher from my Catholic High School, he'd trained to be a monk or something but had dropped out. We - a mixed class of 14 yr old boys and girls - once went into one of his classed to be confronted by the statement: "masturbation is a sin" on the blackboad (Apols for term used but that's what it was in those days). Half of the class started laughing and the other half had to be told - in 'street' terms - what 'masturbation' was!! ;)

Why ? I think pleasing yourself about your appearance is an essential element of a liberal society.

I wouldn't be seen dead in trainers but don't think less of people who do wear them.
