Netherthorpe and Upperthorpe are betwen Hillsbrough and Crookesmoor/town. not the greatest areas to luive in but by no means the worst. top ends are ok.

its a urban ghetto - tower blocks by the tram lines and slum clearance housing - its rough around there... and the ladies are working most nights...

my church is near there best church not sure about the area though i woudnt walk around there on my own at night thats for sure.

I live at Netherthorpe, near to the Arts Tower and the Star & Garter pub.

I've been here over 5 years, and really like it. It's very handy for the city centre - can walk home in 15 minutes and avoid overpriced taxis!

Personally the only probem I've had was having my car broken into - but that sort of crime is hardly unique to this area! Lots of the dodgier housing (on the city centre side of the dual carriageway) has been demolished and is due for redevelopment as part of the council's St Vincent's/St George's Action Plan.

And for anyone with children, it's in the catchment area for Tapton, which I believe is one of the better schools in Sheffield.

is the area nearer hillsborough end too, i suppose all areas have good and bad just some more than others, no areas perfect.

well tbh some places on manor may be ok, my nanan has lived there all her life and generally always been ok, just maybe its repetation?, anyway whats oxspring bank like, and loxley courts supposed to be near hillsborough and has some flats private,

Oxspring Bank is full of just out of community care types....lots of chavvies - crime is quite rife around there - there was a shooting at the local pub recently - quite a few shared accomodation / social services sponsored - so its full of dross.

oh crikey why is there some many idiots about nowadays ruining it for every1, it seems nowheres any good no more :confused: :rolleyes: , maybe should go and live on the moon, then therell be problems there, mad spacemen lol!:D , park view road near penistone rd, across rd from regent court as some flats with varanders are they council and are they for the oldr people (40 +)?

Philadelphia is a hole i won't be returning to. I was attacked by a group of about 4-5 lads on Philadelphia Gardens on friday night. Luckily i got back into my car before any damage was done to me but my car doors took quite a kicking before i could drive away.

Their reason? They thought i might be a cop.

I'd avoid the area if possible.
