Here we go, not been in two months, and already they are tightening the noose.

It is a legit target this time, but next time it will be 'any newspaper that undermines law and order' then 'any newspaper that criticises the government'

I didnt say it was, I said it was the thin end of wedge into a fissure in the press system.

Most council funded newspapers are thinly disguised PR puff-pieces for whoever is in power.

It might. It basically means that if a Tory council wants to send out a newsletter saying what great things they've done and how wonderful it is to live under a Tory council - they'll have to pay for it out of party funds and not council funds.

Ditto for Labour, Lib-Dem or any other councils, of course.
