........ I'd just washed the car and been to rother valley country park. Coming back home I see this great bird poo on my roof.
So I decide to gently wipe it off with a baby wipe..
And I soon realised what a mistake that was...
I'd scratched the paintwork basically, quite badly..
Any rescue remedies? Bar a paintshop and Tcut??

Bloody 'ell what had the bird been eating?
If it scratched your paintwork, imagine wht it did to the birds bum. :suspect:
T-cut but only very lightly.
When the tihs is still soft you can use an old washing up liquid bottle filled with water, and blow it off that way. To remove the scratch after is nigh on impossible. :(

If a bird crapped on my car I wouldn't go out with her anymore!

hehe Don. Isn't it some sort of chemical in bird poo that sort of dissolves the paint or something? I could be very wrong.....
I think it depends on what the bird has been eating whether it damages your car. My car's certainly suffered at the hands of Whitby's seagulls a lot over the years and it's not done any harm. If the crap has seeds in, it might have been them that have caused the scratch.

Never heard of bird poo scratching a car. but I have heard if it's left for a while it can bleach the paint.
Maybe it was the dust under the poo that caused the scratch? Even a newly washed car will have dust on it after one or two journeys.

hi
my sis had a black fiat uno, which was parked under a tree quiet often, one hot & sunny day an egg fell from the tree onto the bonnet and by the time my sister found it,it had dried:gag:
the resulting stain was still there about three years later when she got rid of it (it looked so bad she had to give it away)

Rother Valley? It could have been Goose plop, nasty!
How deep is the scratch/scratches? If they're through the paint and straight and thin you can get a touch up brush, and if you take your time, get comfy and fill the scratch with a cocktail stick. try not to go on the good paint but if you do you can polish it off when it dries, but before it hardens. If you take your time it is possible. I recently did a nasty scratch where someone had etched their initials into the paint. Took a while, but if you can at least "kill" the scratch to stop it looking too bad it's worth it. Also with it being on the roof it's better than the bonnet. And don't forget to polish it a few days after for good measure!
Use soap and water to remove the poop. Rubbing compound and wax come to mind for the scratches. If the acid from the poop ate away at the clear coat, the colour coat will be exposed to the elements. Be careful not to remove the surrounding clear coat with the rubbing compound. (Follow the directions) Then wax two or more times. Remember, the only thing that protects your paint is the wax. Well…that and a good sling shot to ward off the birds! :D
