Magneteer 16-09-2005, 18:58 I'm amazed they've stayed in business so long...........It takes forever to get served in there. They only have one till, with 4 or 5 people behind the counter ,but only one of them actually serving customers ( usually the dopiest one they can find). I prefer to use Decathlon, as it is well stocked and staffed by people who are keen, and willing to assist customers.

Decathlon has a much wider range of stock, but it is hugely more expensive too.
I have heard that they are just rebranding, something about Dunlop buying them?
Dont know how true it is.
Yes it is just a rebrand. All stores are now to be called 'Sports World'!
I think this will be the third store name now as they were originally Sports and Ski...then rebranded to Sports and Soccer and now Sports World!
Conanette 16-09-2005, 19:08 Lol @ Magneteer. I'm always amazed at how you can be stood there, wanting to spend money and they don't give a monkeys. Have walked out in disgust on more than one occasion because I'm cutting it too fine with the parking meter or just had enough of looking at the doinks behind the till do nothing.

The trainers I wanted last week were cheaper in Decathlon at their normal price than in the so called "closing down sale" at Soccer Sports.
as a matter of fact, poundland in meadowhall has shut..............................but there openin a bigger un jus opposite bloody argos :o
Tali5Man 17-09-2005, 22:46 I spoke to a sales assistant about them 'closing down'. She said that it's just a scam to get people in looking for a bargain.
They'll have the same stock when they change their name, so there isn't any incentive for them to lower their prices.

I'm glad it's not just me that thinks Decathlon is a bit pricey.
Cranberry 18-09-2005, 15:55 I was disappointed when I ventured into Decathlon one day to purchase a croquet set. Apparently they don't stock them don't you know?
I had to take my custom elsewhere.
Magneteer 18-09-2005, 20:18 Decathlon actually sell proper sports equipment/clothing, and is well staffed by people who seem to give a s**t. Soccer Sports is a shop with one till, run by clowns selling Chav gear. You can't really compare them. It's like comparing Macdonald's with the Savoy.
I must agree Ive always hated sports soccer, you stand around waiting for a trainer in there for ages, i currently work in a shoe shop and we get into trouble if a shoe isnt down in a single minute the boss is complaining. we get told for every minute we waste its 5 minutes to the customer which i totally agree.
Bigest laugh of them all was when i left school, me and a mate got a job in the stockroom, worked 2 full days when the 3 managers follwed us out of the shops, around meadowhall, into the toilets and back out again, then pulled us out of a shop, searched us and sacked us for supposedly steeling a £2 golf glove. What a shambles of a shop it is. who would want to nick a golf glove any way???
