Most of my searches of Sheffield usually lead me to this board one way or another.

From what I see it is mainly 'homegrown' Sheffielders on here!

I think the board has a mix of local home grown, students, and ex students like myself.

Yeah - no one ever does any work down Adsetts - its easier for me to stay at home and study - at least i can guarantee use of a PC here, and its not being hogged by slackers who want to play JAVA games!!! rant over......

Hallam (stoddard, city campus) - 2nd Year, International Business and French ----- off to France for 18 months as part of my course - friday after this!!! WOO HOO

Well i've just finished everything, apart from an exam.

Some advice, dont choose a dissertation unless you have time to do it!! I've got a part time job as well, so its not easy!!

Can you really live on the roof of tescos? how handy!

I'm a PhD student at Sheffield, in Firth Court. But I grew up in Stocksbridge, so I'm a bit of both.

I wish I was at Hallam in the Psalter lane campus though, I've just moved to Roach Rd and I can see Psalter lane from my bedroom window. How cool would it be to be able to stumble out of my house and into work...I can but dream :)

Really? How cool! Did you go to Stocksbridge School? I bet we know each other, or at least I'll know someone who knows you.
I know there's another Stocksbridger doing his PhD here, coz I can see him across the court yard! I wouldn't have thought there were that many of us!

Skatiechik
14-01-2004, 12:53
Not from Stocksbridge orginally. Bought a house out there over a year ago with the partner, as it was a nice area. Close to peaks and nothing like the astronomical prices of Sheffield.

Didn't realise there was another Stocksbridge person doing a PhD and there I was thinking I was the only person.

Ah ha, 3 Stocksbridger's at Sheffield, thats not bad! Although I guess I'm now an ex-stocksbridger, since I've just escaped (yipeee). It is a nice area, but it's a bit of dull place to grow up in, and the commute to uni was driving me nuts. I can now walk it in 25mins, that would have only got me as far as Hillsboro before, and then it was another 10mins at least...

Yes there's some little flats on the roof, that i didn't even know existed until i moved into one. t'is very handy for food and videos, and we can play on the roof, to the back of the flat. If the mood takes us that is.

HEE HEE - i live where you would love to live, walk out the main entrance gates to Psalter Campus - there are a row of houses in front of you and on the left of Hunter House Road. I live in one of them. I was gutted to realise that my course sent me all the way into the city - when two of my housemates used to have to only leave the house - 1 minute before they were due in uni.

Potential of two rooms available as of next week - only students need apply however!!! Geoff, no need to redirect this posting - i was just making a point!!!

I'm a 'mature' student and a native Sheffielder doing a degree in I.T. Networking at Sheffield Hallam City Campus. Worked for 11 years and decided I didn't like it, so I'm going to get the education I didn't bother with first time round

Looks like there are a lot of students on here! Is that because we (yes I'm one) don't do any work? :D I'm on 3rd Year/ Placement Year of Computing degree. Would recommend placements to anyone doing a degree as I will be so much more confident with my first job now!

I’m a student at Hallam trying to revise for a re sit on German Nationalism because i got carried away in my exam at Christmas and tried to describe the Sonderverg(need to learn to spell that by Friday) thesis via radical 60’s cinema, must have forgot I'd transferred from film studies to history.

Now I'm trying to resist this forum and arguments with Mathew Finn on Life at Shu so i can revise enough to get an extra two marks. AND PASS!!!!
