Posting this as a favour for the In-Laws.. they are currently trying to find a second hand starter motor for a XV920J. they have allready tried all the obvious places, but have only managed to find brand new ones priced at slightly more than they can afford. has anyone any suggestions where they may be able to find a resonably priced second hand one ? or even if anyone has one for sale if you could let me know and I will pass on the details for them.. cheers :)

You enter the parts that you want and they contact over 200 breakers on your behalf. If your in-laws don't have the tinternet, there is a phone number to ring, which costs a couple of quid, but saves you ringing round.

Are they sure it's the starter motor and not the starter clutch, which are notorious for going wrong on this type of bike. If it is the starter motor perhaps it can be re-conditioned.

Not a problem, as I said the first thing to go on these is the starter clutch, its the bit that engages the starter motor to the flywheel, when you press the button, it's notoriously weak.
