I would be interested to know if anybody can confirm or deny the alarming rumours concerning the proposed site for a sewage treatment plant in the Crookes area.

As a concerned home owner I am worried what this will do to house prices in the area.

Any info would be gratefully received.

Andrew

Where did you hear the rumours? I live near Crookes and haven't heard anything. Crookes lies near the top of a hill. Most sewage plants I've seen are in flat, low lying areas. It would be more efficient to place the plant somewhere that wouldn't require the sewage to be pumped back uphill. Also there isn't a huge amount of land available in Crookes and the little that will be available is very expensive, it probably wouldn't be used for a sewage treatment plant.

I have also picked up on these rumours and am also a worried homowner. I have heard the proposed sites are either the Tapton Hall of residence after its demolition or the Bole Hill Park area.

Try the Council website. There must be a planning application if its not just a rumour.

Well they've got to put it somewhere I suppose....

Does seem a bit daft on top of a hill though.

Maybe the over-inflated house prices will reduce to a level more representative of the area..

What does the word 'relief' in relief sewage treatment plant mean?
