can anybody help?

i am trying to find out about an old magazine that i think used to be produced in or around sheffield. i have what i think is the front page of this magazine but other than the name of ARROWS a price of 15p and details of this editon i dont know a great deal more. the reason for the interest is many years ago someone sent the front cover to my grandfarther because on the back of the front cover is a picture of my great grandfather taking a picture with a very old camera. my great grandfather was killed by a hit and run driver on manor top in 1972 six years before i was born. what i am trying to find out is more about this magazine and the reason for the picture being in it. if any one remembers it that would be great.

p.s the this edition of the magazine includes interviews with the Byrds and William Empson if that give any idea of the time frame we are talking about.

p.p.s i have included pictures of the cover.

can not post images please email me and i will send links

Arrows magazine was a long-running publication produced by students at Sheffield University. It was broadly an arts and general features magazine, and was a frequent winner at the annual Guardian student journalism awards.

I don't think Arrows is published any more - though I could be wrong. I think Sheffield University (not Hallam Uni) would be a good place to find out more info. Certainly I imagine they would have back issues in their library.

Damon is correct. Arrows was the magazine of Sheffield University students. Its office was in the students union building. There was also the student paper called Darts. Neither exists now though I think there is a student paper by another name. I was editor in the 70s - also of Darts. I worked on it with Gill Rhodes and Pete Brown who was the lyricist for Cream. WIlliam Empson was Professor of English at the University. It was an Arts magazine

I too can agree. Arrows were very active in the Student's Union in the 70s. They produced not only the magazine, but also other events, including a wonderous "multimedia" evening. I too worked with Gill and also took pictures for Darts in that period.
