do any of you no how i can stop my aol broadband for crashing

Is any error given?
Happen a a set time everytime?
AOL s/w version?
Windows version?

Has this just started happening recently craigmason? Our connection has been all over the place for a few days now but i thought it was something to do with the router.

Sign up with another ISP?

it must be aols fault as other people seem to be having problems i did get an update today and it seems to have fixed to problem

I'll try that now craigmason. I haven't opened AOL's browser for any updates in months :rolleyes:

[EDIT] There was indeed an update waiting for me. Lets see if my connection sorts itself out over the next few days.

How do you get hold of an update I stupidly assumed it would update when I login?

If there are any updates available they will download themselves. When you log off they will install themselves.
The only time i have ever been asked if i wanted to install any updates was when i installed sp2.

Iv'e had a couple of filters go on me, unplug everything thats pluged into your landline, leaving just your comp, if thats ok plug them in one at a time.

it just stops responding for some unknown reason it was fine until aol changed the network so i suspect its got somthing to do with that

Have you tried contacting their helpdesk (either by phone or live chat if you can get connected)?

I had to contact them once and they were fantastic - best customer service I've ever had.

Might be worth a go - they may know some trick or have some known issue with something on your system that they can fix?

AOL and good customer service in the same sentence? WTF?! You sure you were speaking to the right AOL?! :confused: :loopy:

I'm sorry, but when I was on AOhell dial up in 1998 I found their technical support department to be the worst and most UNsupportive outfit I've ever had the misfortune of ringing up, bloody good job it was an 0800 number else BT would've recieved a very angry letter demanding a refund of cost of calls to AOhell tech "support",,,

It depends on who you get put through to IMO. If you get someone from Ireland, you'll probably get some help but if you get put through to the middle east call centre (not sure exactly where it is), you'll just get 100's of canned speeches thrown at you and non of the responses will work.

If you go through to Live Help, you'll get the mandatory "I've got an email that will solve that problem" speech and then you'll get cut off and the email won't work :rolleyes:

It was the Irish ones that were the problem... :roll:

Worst thing of it was that it made me temporarily racist against the Irish, a bit bad when Mum was working with an Irish woman at the time :(
