I just wondered if anyone has had to have a bridesmaid or even wedding dress taken in 2 dress sizes, did it look ok, and was it a big job?
Hoping the lady who measured my bridesmaid for her dress hasnt made a mistake!

after two taking after two sizes be careful as your dress will start to lose its shape.

Thanks lwb, im so worried as i get married in 6 weeks, and the dress she has ordered is a size 18, for my bridesmaid who is a 12-14, because of she 'wide hips'! I seriously hope she hasnt messed up.

Did you get it from a bridal dress shop? If so she will be used to ordering the right sizes, when is the dress coming in? It must be close :)

Yeah from a bridal shop, but honestly i dont have any trust in her tbh, she couldnt even measure my other bridesmaid who was then 8 months pregnant, she asked her what size she thinks she should order for her! and other mistakes she has made with us so.... she hasnt filled me with confidence.
We have been to see one of them today, just my bridesmaid who has the 18 dress couldnt make it, but it looks huge!

Oh no, did you sign the paperwork with the measurements on there? If you want to have a chat about it, if its really worrying you I don't mind.

My phone number is 07515697130, I know of 3-4 amazing seamstresses in Sheffield that will be able to give you better advice than I can.

Hope it all goes well for you

Thanks, thats very kind of you, my sister who is the size '18' bridesmaid is going for her dress fitting tomorrow, so i've told her to tell them about our concerns, and try and reassure us that it will be fine, and hopefully it will be a different member of staff!

No didnt sign anything to confirm measurements, we all thought at time that it sounded wrong but she assured us you can take them in 2 sizes, so we just trusted her, but after the other mistakes she has made since, im more than a little concered about her now!
So might need an good seamstress after tomorrow, ill let you know!

Thanks again x

Hi LWB, well the size 18 dress is obviously way too big on bust so left it there for them to alter, so we will see what it looks like on 15h july! I emailed the manager and complained about the member of staff in question about the numerous blunders she has made with us, and the fact I have spent weeks worrying about this dress! Yet to hear back from her....

My bridesmaid dress had to be ordered to fit the biggest part my hips and bottom which meant the rest was huge due to my proportions. However we had a wonderful seamstress who was able to rebuild the top of the dress to make it all fit. It looked fabulous and you never would have known. Unless you have a dress made of you are a perfect size all over this will always happen.
