Hi, after a long debate with some of my friends I thought it would be interesting to see what everyone else thought. Basically, we were talking about heaven and hell. We were saying about whether we believed in it and our opinions on it. One of my friends said; "Well I think that everyone goes to heaven but we all have our own opinions of heaven so some people who have not been good in their life with think heaven is some sort of hell" What do you think?

My opinion- there is no heaven and hell.
You pop your clogs- you either get cremated or you get buried- either way, you return to the earth.

Thats just the way it is I reckon :)

I would like to think that our souls go somewhere after death..I just think its a nice idea. I'd also quite like to believe in reincarnation but I find it difficult to believe.

I don't believe in an afterlife, but this one is definately what you make it.

This might be controversial but I think the idea of an afterlife, to most people, is a crutch used to tell themselves that lacking willpower in this life and so enduring a hardship you don't have to do is actually a good thing. In reality it's one of the saddest things I can think of, doing something you know makes you feel bad simply because you don't have the will to say 'NO! I am not doing this!'.

For the truly unstable, an afterlife is a justification for horrible, inhuman acts.

I think it takes real acceptance (some might say nihilism) to know that this is the only time we get and we better not waste it because when it's gone, what ever you think makes you 'you' is gone forever. Geologically, our life passes in an instant, so males something of your life and hopefully end it with fewer regrets than not doing something because you think it might be wrong.

That isn't to say everyone should think. well it doesn't matter what I do because I'm going to die (true nihilism) and I'm certainly not saying be amoral. All I'm saying is make yourself happy, however you do that (happiness to me is often making other people happy), because if you're not happy, you're wasting a portion of an already very short lifetime.

I'm getting worried! I've got BrainThrust remarking I'm a Mod on stand-by duty tonight, and another thread I've got Don Kiddock claiming I'm an unofficial mod. :help: Where am I going wrong? :hihi:

I personally do not think that there is such a thing as heaven or Hell. I would like to think that there is a heaven, but it just doesnt seem plausible to me. :(

After my near death experience in the bath I know there is something else out there and that's where we're heading!

It's like the television channels... they are always here. They exist in the same room as you are sitting just now... but if you haven't got the right equipment, you can't see them!

hehe no trickle I haven't why does it mention something about it on there? My mum got scared by lost and I just don't have the time to watch it. :)

I didn't expect such a response with this thread to be honest! Its got some great responses from you lot.

I personally don't like the idea of living my life and then dying and just laying there rotting. I quite like the idea of my past relatives watching over me and I love the atmosphere in graveyards!
