You shouldn't need anything else. The employees will most probably give you a CRB check and some places a First aid course, but other than that no!
Some places even let you work on your level 3 which would be good as it enhances your job prospective. :)

This link (https://jobs.sheffield.gov.uk/school_search.asp?NAV=S) will send you to the Schools Vacancies part of the Council website if you are looking x

The ability to spell and write using the Queens English in the correct grammatical way always used to be a basic requirement ,but I guess that`s no longer the case. :rolleyes:

I assume that you meant to say the Queen's English when pouring scorn on the OP's language skills.

There is no such thing as 'Queens English' these days, its now 'Standard English.'

Right just call it basic English then, but the requirement of a decent standard of it should be absolutely definite.Too many people seem to think that it is fine to allow spell and grammar check to do the job.Context never seems to come into it any more. My daughter's English teacher wants her to start 'focussing' on her spelling!!!!!!! :rant: Good grief, they will be allowing me to perform brain surgery next. what a scary thought.

Well, Queen's English or my English, it is dreadful how standards have dropped.

Yes there is a qualification for assisting in teaching - what level are you aiming for?

On the topic of English, you must achieve a certian level of English and Maths to be a teacher or teaching assistant, and the level to which you aspire is the level you need to reach for those, regardless of the subject matter you will be teaching, or the ages of those learners.

I have just completed PTLLS and the min requirement for that is Level 2 in maths and English. The higher the level eg CTLLS, DTLLS and QTLLS, the higher the standard of maths and English you need to evidence. Likewise for other similar teaching qualifications.

However it is fair to say people are lazy on forums, and don't check their spelling, or make the odd typo they miss (I do that now and again as most people do) or they don't think they need to make an effort to use proper language and punctuation let alone spelling. It's just that to the untrained eye, spelling is easier to pick out.

It appears I might be incorrect,

There seem to be three forms;

Standard English

British English

Queen's English Society
