View Full Version : Tiny Laptop - what's the lowdown? & fan problems?

Dear all,

I purchased a laptop from Tiny in May 2004, with a 3 year warranty, including carriage. Does anybody know if this is still valid? The website has gone down & I haven't received a response to my email.

I'm not sure if something is wrong with the laptop. Suddenly the fan is a lot nosier than it used to be - which is very distracting! Last year it was sent to be repaired due to crashing & overheating - it turned out to be a faulty motherboard I think, which was replaced. Could it be overheating again? or perhaps the fan is broken (in the extension lead?)

Any ideas on how I can fix this??

Much appreciated, N.

They have gone bust, you'll need to contact the recievers for information on who has taken the warranties on.

That lasted well. Just as well some of us didn't believe the hype that surrounded their 'ressurection'.

Grant Thorntons are the administrators and the have a helpline on 0870 830 3288
E-mail address is: enquiries-time@gtuk.com

If you paid for your extended warranty by Credit Card you can claim back part of it since Tiny/Time went bust from your card provider.

Let me rephrase that:
Say you have paid for a 3 year extended warranty and Tiny/Time have gone bust after only 1 year of that warranty running.
You are in a position to try and claim back 2/3rds of the cost of that warranty. It is unlikely that the administrators will give you anything for that but if you paid by credit card, their is a chance that you can claim from them, as a service has been paid for and not supplied in full.

Last time Tiny went bust the warranties weren't worth anything, no matter how you paid for them. Might be worth checking before committing to anything.

try cleaning the fan out with a vacuum cleaner or compressed air, and hope that it's nothing more serious than dust clogging it up.

The credit card is only valid on purchases in excess of £100 so if the cost of your 3-yr warranty cost less I think you can safely, if not at all happily, write it off.

I think we can safely say that a 3 year Time or Tiny warranty will be around £300!
