Hi fellow Baddies,

I've been digging out details of the various local festivals coming up this summer
since I hope to get to quite a few of them; most are free or cheap to enter.
I thought it would be nice to share with friends...

Tomorrow, Saturday 12th June, 12 - 8pm: Peace in the Park: Ponderosa
(long park betwween Crookes Valley Road & Upperthorpe Road)
http://web.peaceinthepark.org.uk/
This is a great event with good music, a nice vibe and well setup for picnics
- either DIY including with help from nearby Beanies (above the festival) or
Tesco's (below it), or from the food stalls at the festival.

Saturday 19th June: Heeley Festival
Lovely sprawling festival with lots of community stuff going on, also
strawberries & cream in the church, a boot fair & music.

Saturday 19th June: Festival of Cycling, Devonshire Green
http://www.sheffieldbikefestival.org.uk/
All your cycling questions answered... and some fun quirky stuff like bicycle
polo

Saturday 19th June: Grenoside Gala - 12 - 5pm; Sword Dancing gets mentioned,
also a scarecrow competition (actually thats 9am-10am but I guess they'll
still be there)

Saturday 19th - Saturday 26th June: Bradfield Festival of Music - A concert
each evening - looks expensive (they have some big names) but I'm very
impressed by their doing concessionary tickets for just a quid.

Saturday 26th June: Green Fair, St Mary's Church/Community Centre,
Bramall Lane / Clough Road
Good green stuff, music, food, eco stuff you haven't seen yet

Sunday 27th June: Firth Park Festival 1 - 6pm

Saturday 3rd July 12 - 8pm: Sharrow Festival, Mount Pleasant Park
Normally has impressive bands on stage

Saturday 3rd July 2 - 5pm: Bolsterstone Summer Fayre - includes mentions of
brass bands...

Saturday 3rd July & Sunday 4th July 10:30am - 6:30pm: Cliffhanger,
Millhouses Park
http://www.cliff-hanger.co.uk/
Big outdoors/adventure festival, fiver to get in.

Sunday 11th July: Abbeyfield Multicultural Festival, Abbeyfield Park
Pitsmoor / Burngreave showing off how cosmopolitan it is, normally a lovely day
if the weather's good.

Friday 23rd July - Sunday 25th July: Tramlines Festival: Various places around
Sheffield, main stage probably Devonshire Green - but ridiculously long
queues for the free tickets to get into a fenced Devonshire Green, so worth
exploring other venues too (or instead).

Sunday 29th August & Bank Holiday Monday 30th August: Sheffield Fayre, Norfolk
Park - Huge event, with the main focus being a series of historical [battle]
re-enactments; also some big marquees with crafts, home-made stuff & displays
of prize vegetables & flowers (monster cabbages, onions etc).

There are of course more festivals than this, these are just the ones I've seen so far that have grabbed my attention.

Feel free to forward this message to other people, I'm sure the various events will appreciate additional visitors.

Have fun!

cheers,

Andrew.

Hi

Are you up for doing the Sharrow, Cliffhanger and Sheffield Fayre ones?
