View Full Version : Renewing Norton Security over internet

Anybody else here struggled to renew Norton subs?

Followed on screen prompts until I reached a point where it asks me for a password in order to proceed to pay by credit card. I have never used a password for NOrton before. It then asks for my email address and posts me a link to change my password.

I have not clicked on the link as I haven't had to do this before on renewal. Am I being over-cautious here or what?

The last time I went to renew my Norton subscription over the Internet it kept crashing. So instead I rung up Norton to make the transaction over the phone. They said they were experiencing difficulties with their system at the time and so would just issue me with a 12 month's subscription - gratis!

Am just using the prompts from the warning box that keeps poping up when I log on---telling me that my subscription is due to run out.

I have looked at paying over the phone but they charge an extra £11 for this:wow:

I'm pretty sure they sent me a password when I subscribed, so I'd expect to have to use it when renewing (coz it costs less than a new subscription)

If you're unhappy or unsure - use their 'contact us' facility ;)

Mo- dont do it!
Nortons is totally poor compared to other software out there.

Honestly, you will see a miles better performing PC if you got rid of Nortons and replaced it with something else.

I'll second that ANGELUS :)

Why pay when you can get free software that does as good a job (even better job IMO)? Try AVG 7 Free Edition (http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5) and Sygate Personal Firewall (www.sygate.com/firewall). Then go for a night out with the money you saved

I was in a similar situation to you over Norton renewal last year, took Vidsters advice and all turned out sweet in the end.
The AVG updates itself each morning in a matter of seconds, then leaves you alone while you get on with stuff.

I would recommend anything other than Nortons, they really are that bad.

My recommendation would be - Nod32 for the antivirus and Agnitum Outpost Pro Firewall.
