We got lots from Ikea actually, and they look very nice, also dunelm mill do good ones. Found a florist who does artificial bouquets too- google Sarahs flowers, she does lovely ones. topmum 10-06-2010, 19:52 i had real flowers in my bouquet but my 2 bridesmaids wanted to keep theirs so i had theirs made using similar flowers but artificial they were lovely !!- also 2 corsages (for mums ) 1 real and 1 artificial - they looked identical ! honeyb35 10-06-2010, 19:57 I had artificial flowers from ebay and they were amazing! Red and ivory roses with marabou trim to match my dress. You do have to be careful buying from there though, I bought one lot and they were awful - poundland type things with masking tape holding them together instead of ribbon  It is nice that you can keep them afterwards, mine are in a black glass vase in my living room :D lilmisslovet 12-06-2010, 08:18 i had real flowers in my bouquet but my 2 bridesmaids wanted to keep theirs so i had theirs made using similar flowers but artificial they were lovely !!- also 2 corsages (for mums ) 1 real and 1 artificial - they looked identical ! where did you get yours from topmum K Hayes 12-06-2010, 10:57 i got my bouquet from ebay red roses with diamontes and looped bear grass - v nice! yet to buy bridesmaids flowers tho. Lollipop22 13-06-2010, 15:28 I got mine from hobby craft, they sell everything you need to make stuff for your wedding. I don't get married until end of next year but I'm buying things as i go along and saw some in there, I'm even going to the the OH's button hole from there as well. mrs m 13-06-2010, 16:48 I got mine from Sher at aisle be yours (google it). Shes Bristol based, but her silk flowers are beautiful x hend0889 22-06-2010, 11:03 why not try at making your own for the extra personal touch....just google silk flower templates and you'llk come across something easy enough to make yourself. shaznjordan 23-06-2010, 01:50 i had arificial flowers at least they wont die on ya n u dont av 2 worry about them 2 much id deff recommend them i made my own for the center pieces bigdave6295 23-06-2010, 08:16 Me and my OH are having fresh flowers for our wedding, however for favours we found some wooden roses on eBay (the stems are wire only the flower is wooden); they are very light (a box of 100 weighed about the same as a bag of sugar.) they look amazing and bring a lovely aspect to the wedding, if we hadn’t already paid for the flowers we would be having these, it only cost us around £20 for 100 roses and they come in loads of different colours and I think you can even buy ready made bouquets. Slightly different from using artificial flowers but I love the quirkiness of it and as I said they are really good and local as well (Doncaster), however other retailers are available lol. Limelites 03-09-2010, 12:10 We were torn between the choice of real or artificial flowers and in the end we chose artificial. The reasons we decided to use artificial flowers were mainly due to timing. We wanted to take delivery well in advance of our wedding. Why rely on a florist to deliver real flowers unwlited and fresh the day before our big day? Just didn't want to take that chance. Another reason that swayed us was the seasonal benefits. The flowers we wanted weren't in season so artificial flowers all year round, in any colour you like. Unlike fresh flowers, they are always in season. I've still got my flowers and it's been six months since we were married. Artificial flowers last you see, they won’t wilt and they wont die. You can keep them forever after as a keepsake without the need for expensive preservation. Anyway, we took a lot of time choosing a florist and we purchased samples from just about all of the main ones. In the end we went with www.silkblooms.co.uk because they were abke to customise our table arrangements and bouquets for us. We wanted to name our tables after individual flowers as each flower has a meaning if you look up the language of flowers. We had twenty tables, all named after different flowers and on each table we wrote a little message about what the flower name meant and how that related to my husband and I. We wanted all of the flowers in red and Silk Blooms were able to airbrush everything for us so that even the artificial tuberose was red. Amazing service. I just wouldn't have been able to achieve this with real flowers. Anyway, to cut a long story short. There are lots of reasons why artificial flowers are better than the real thing. Timing was the main one, seasonal availablility too. mazzyf1973 07-09-2010, 11:39 theres a website on facebook called weddings in blossom she did artificial flowers for her granddaughters wedding on the 28th august 2010 they were foam flowers and they were lovely chriswalsh 21-03-2011, 14:40 There is also a Sheffield based online store which provides brilliant artificial flowers suited for any occasions. My wedding flowers were artificial and i now display them in a vase in my bedroom! I got them from Bloomin krackers in Handsworth near Asda. I'd defo recomend them! Really nice people and do a god job within your budget laura16 23-05-2011, 06:03 This was really interesting to read because I do fresh flowers and had thought of artificial i wasn't sure about them as I didn't think they would be very popular but from what you have all said I think I'll look into it Flossy 13-06-2011, 10:05 Just a word of warning about Whittingtons at Parkway markets, I called in on Saturday to see what they sold as I want to do my own flower displays for the tables and was told in no uncertain terms that the DO NOT sell to the general public and only sell to the Trade , they had some lovely things in there and I could have spent a fortune but sadly came away with nothing and he lost a sale didn’t relise in these hard pressed time business could afford to turn away money :loopy:. His advice was, go to a florist they will get you anything you want, what he failed to appreciate was I want to do these myself as I am on a very tight budget and cannot afford a florist. On a positive note the flower sellers were brilliant and I will defiantly be going there to get my flowers for the wedding :D. sheff_minx 25-06-2011, 08:49 I ordered my bouquet from ebay (seller lynnlifting) and it is absolutely beautiful. I'm so pleased because I thought I was being "cheap" by having silk rather than real flowers but the ivory roses are beautiful and look realistic, plus I'll be able to keep it after the wedding day :D k8ndaz 28-06-2011, 13:18 not sure if anyone has potsted it but try thefloraltough.co.uk i think thats the website. she works from home and does the most amazing fabulous bouquet's with matching ones for bridesmaids and wands for flower girls :o) auntyjo 09-07-2011, 22:41 if they are put together properly they can look fantastic, silk flowers with real foilage can look fantastic too, i'm not a trades person and i've bought plenty of things from whittingtons before. a silk bouquet i made for a bride was for a wedding in las vagas so they travel very well too. |
