We take our puss cat to a vet on London road - not sure what its called but it's on a corner and it's green...

We like it - Tabby isn't so keen!

A lot depends on where you live.

We go to Crooks & Partners in Hackenthorpe.
It is a bit out of our way but after a few disasters elsewhere we find them very good.

The one on London Road, by the way, is the Highfield Veterinary Centre (http://www.highfieldvetcentre.co.uk/) !

We use Hunters Bar too. They once turned out on a Sunday within the hour when one of our cats tore his side open on a branch (presumably). Great service.

For North Sheffield vets, I highy recommend Beech House veterinary surgey. They are at High Green on GreenGate lane.
They dont rip you off and the vets and staff are really friendly.

heheh, my dad used to take our pets there when I was a child, and he was (half jokingly) known as "butcher" mactaggart.

He wasn't too big on his "people skills" IIRC, tbh, but by god, he knew his way round treating an animal! lol (god! I wonder if he's still alive, even!!!???!?!?!)

My dog is now under the care of that practice, and they aren't bad, very good to my little hound... and they don't seem to be as pricey as other vets, that I have encountered, anyway.

The practice also has a dog-groomer based there, who is pretty reasonable, and she doesn't do too bad a job of taming my pooch's vertical-shag-pile of a coat.

Hiya ,
you don't say which area you are in, but if you are anywhere near High Green, we go to Beech House Veterinary Clinic,
Greengate Lane High Green. They are very caring and excellent vets and the fees are very reasonable.

I use Abbey Vets, 2 Thompson Hill at High Green. They also have other centres, one of which has a Sunday surgery, which has saved me a fortune in callout fees!

Hallam Vets on Holme Lane.

They are open on weekends too if you need them.

They are open I think it's an hour on Sundays if you can wait, or they have a call out.

They are really friendly, very good with both our cats and our dog, they talk to you like you're a person and they explain things properly.

I really like it there. They offer all the extra services as well and their reception staff are really friendly too

I think it is a case of making your own mind up really. As people on here have recommended practices that I don't personally rate, such as Highfields (on London Road) and Holme lane practice.

I go to Abbeymoor on Halifax road. I feel the vets at the practice are friendly, seem to actually like animals, explain what is happening and don't mind me asking lots of (silly) questions.

I would recommend that you go round a few practices and ask the receptionist some set questions. Such as standard consultulation fees, worming costs and emergency cover arrangements. Have a look at the waiting room and see what you think to each surgery. I chose mine after doing this, from a combination of cheaper fees, helpfulness of the receptionist and how they handle out of hours cover.

We use Hallam vets but the Crookes branch as parking is a heck of a lot easier.

They are all very good, but special mention for Phil who is a real cat-lover and it shows.

Phil is ace. I approve of anyone who greets my rabbit by shouting "Porridge! My main man!"

I think most practices have vets who specialise or excel in one field and not another. I know some great cat vets but would prefer someone equally great with dogs. For cats I'd recommend Andrew at Crookes.

Surely vets and cats go together like peas and carrots?! Can't see that there would be much difference miself

I used to use the vet on Halifax road too (I think that was a Springfields branch). I now use one in Killamarsh and they are really good.
