Does anyone know if there's a buddhist centre in Sheffield?
Does anyone go to one as I have been told to go if I want to clear my mind (of what i'm not sure, it's usually empty).:)
There's one at Walkley I think. Just up from the University near Children's Hospital.
Thanks for that:thumbsup:
I have some friends who live round there so i'll ask them to look for me.

Let me know if / how you get on. I may get down there eventually for some meditation.
One day maybe.

Thanks for the help:thumbsup:
I need some peace of mind, it's going a mile a second:loopy:
There is a Buddist Centre on South Rd, nr the shops at Commonside, just up from them on the bend.
There used to be a place at Broomhill, on Glossop Rd, too but i think it may have now closed
Has anyone been to the sheffield buddhist group on howard road??:)

I've been to their 6 week starter on Meditation and Buddhism and it was very good - they also do drop in meditation classes and stuff :)

I noticed there was a Buddhist centre just oppposite Endcliffe Park, at Hunter's Bar. Also, a Peace Cafe joined to it. Looks new.

has anybody been in here?
I haven't been to the one near endcliffe park, but keep meaning to. Apparently they do a beginners session on a Wednesday evening if that's any help.

Cool, thanks.
I've tried meditating on my own but without success... I wriggle too much!! I think i need some guidance but I'm not that flush, do you know how much a course like this costs? Is there anywhere more central?
Most activities at the Walkley centre are given for free as a kind of gift to the community, and the centre is run on the donations of its friends. The only exception is the 6-week beginners class, which does have a small fee. If you can't afford this fee you can talk about it with one of the people leading the course and they'll work something out. The next beginner's course starts in September and is Wednesday nights from 7.30. After the beginner's course, if you find you've enjoyed it, you can go on and do another six week course (free), and if after that you're still interested you can come along on a Tuesday night (Free), a Friday night (free), or to many of the weeken activities (free).
Alternatively, you can come (for free) to the drop-in sessions on Wednesday or Thursday lunchtimes, and request instruction in meditation. However, the beginner's classes on Wednesday evenings give you a fuller, clearer picture of Buddhism as it is practised at this centre.
Finally, feel free to go to the other Buddhist groups in Sheffield to, as each tradition is unique and suited to different temperaments.
